Generally, I prefer to talk, rather than text. But, I was grateful for texting when my aunt texted me last night to give me the news that my shamelessly Twilight-obsessed cousin gave birth to her daughter, at 4:52. Texting allowed me to express my genuine excitement, and not allow my ecstatic aunt to hear me laugh out loud when I was told the baby's name: Esme Renee. I can't wait to meet the new edition to the family...but I don't know if I'll ever be able to say her name with a straight face! Today, celebrate (and have a laugh at) your family's unique form of crazy. Happy Friday! Your votes are in!

I took the semester off from my usual martial arts class, but went in Monday and Wednesday at the request of my Sensei, to give him a hand. I've been a member of this class for the past five years straight One semester away...hasn't changed class dynamics at all Monday, a kid I've been personally teaching for three years didn't recognize me after just six months away. Despite having the exact same hairstyle, makeup, and jewelry, apparently just showing up in a long WHITE coat, instead of the ong black one I had always worn before...means, "you can't be Julia!" in a conversation...with a 31 year old man...about Twilight. Wednesday, my friend, who missed Monday, candidly reported back to me that, following Monday, every single new boy in class contacted her, to tell her about the, "super hot black belt," that showed up Ahh, priorites. The army boot camp drill sergeant style warm up I executed, as well as two hours' worth of fixing everyone's sparring technique...no where near as important as, "OMG, she's HOT!" Life, frustrating and amusing as ever. Have an awesome Thursday! Your votes are in!

So, since we were sharing cat stories last night, I thought I'd share another of mine. A coupler of nights ago, I finally earned my "Crazy Cat Lady" certificate. I own three cats, take billions of photos of them, and talk to them like they're people. But I finally earned the official title when I found myself snapping pictures of my Himalayan. Her name is Persephone, and I caught myself talking to her as I took photos on my phone, saying, "Come on, Persephone, find the light! You know your face photographs best when you find your light!" And, I really expected she understood me, and would listen! But, being a cat, she turned her nose up at the crazy lady, and trotted off to play with the other cats. Score one more sub-division of my inner crazy! Votes are in!

So, after filling out, but never submitting the Big Brother application the last three years, I finally mailed in my application for Big Brother 14 yesterday. I spent a painstaking month filling out each question, making sure I was clear, articulate, interesting, and honest. I agonized over what photos to submit, and wrote and rewrote my points for my two minute video a million times, before shooting even once! And then, I realized, my twenty pages of application could be boiled down to one nutty phrase: "Hi, I'm Julia! I literally see dead people! No, really!" I know reality shows like BB love the loonies...but I somehow suspect I'm a little too loony. Lol! Nevertheless, I'm proud of myself for actually sending it in this time. Today, remember, you'll lead a much happier, healthier life if you learn to laugh at your self! Happy Tuesday from your resident loony! Your votes are in!

Despite all the time I've spent helping people find the beauty in themselves, even I battle with insecurity. I was struggling to capture a headshot for my profile, where I was smiling, and looked pretty, instead of creepy. I've always hated my smile...hence, why five years of local modeling hadn't provided a "pretty" headshot before. Just as I was growing frustrated, though, and was ready to give up...my dear husband chimed in to remind me that I AM beautiful, no matter how often I think I'm just creepy, and dwell on my insecurities. The lesson here: All of us, EVERYONE, has insecurities about something or other. Today, be kind to yourself. Instead of dismaying over crow's feet, pudgy thighs, or a smile that always looks forced...look in the mirror and give yourself a compliment. It all sounds very cliche, but I've seen positive affirmations work wonders. And, remember you have a friend here, with her forced-looking smile, and beautiful sapphire eyes. Good luck on your Monday - your votes are in!

I was talking to a dear friend of mine about a hot issue in the country right now: Equal rights for the gay and lesbian community. He had this to say, and I thought it was worth sharing: "I don't like the stigma attached to the terms straight, gay, or bi, because people still assume being "straight" means you're a good wholesome person, but being gay or bi means there's something wrong with you. If you ask me, can't I just tell you I'm not picky and buy you a drink?" He's a great guy (bisexual) that really sees things to love in all of us...and I liked his thought above. Remember, hatred and prejudice are the two biggest things that hold us back. Today, practice tolerance. Just because someone else's political views, religious views, or sexual orientation is different from yours, if they're not hurting anyone, would it really hurt you to try to understand? Have a wonderful Sunday. Your votes are in!

In the age of the, "smart phone," I'm sure we've all heard of the horrifying, yet amusing phenomena that is auto-correct, predictive text, or T9, where your phone automatically chooses the word it thinks you mean. Well, I actually got e-mailed about the Amazing Collection show I applied for. I collect bladed weaponry. The casting director had a very flattering comment for me, quote, "Omg, you're like a superhero!" I was very flattered, and tried to text my sister the same comment. My phone helpfully changed, "superhero," to..."spaghetti!" Thanks, SMRT phone! Have a fantastic weekend - your votes are in!

This morning, I woke up, and did what I do every morning: grab my phone, and check for overnight e-mail and messages I need to answer before my day starts. The first message was a text, from my sister in medical school. Quote: "I like cheese, and I'm not wearing any pants." Sent, 3:56. The funniest part? This message is no cause for alarm, coming from her! Today, thank a loved one for their uniqueness, and for being a part of your life. TGIF - your votes are in!
