YAY Laura, it's nice to see your smiling face again. Can't let this year slip away without saying saying good-bye to 2011 and welcome 2012. Let your husband know I say Happy New Year.
On New Year Eave, when you are thinking about 2012 and what you intend to accomplish, remember: Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other. Be safe tonight!
You loved my Black Forest lava cake!!! It did taste good :) I have come to the conclusion that technology dislikes me this year. I am having computer problems again, so if I miss a few days that is the reason. But I was lucky enough to pop in and vote :) Maybe next next (hey that is in a very short time!)technologhy will love me :)
To my awesome friends, I'm leaving town today for New Years, and won't be able to post for a few days. So, I offer this, just a couple of days early: As the sun rose over the horizon on a beautiful January 1, 2012, a young man entered a towering skyrise. He looked far too young, and far, far too mischievous to have a desk here, but plopped into a cubicle, and tossed his feet onto the desk. The light on his phone was blinking, and he picked up to listen to this message: "Dear Murphy. As CEO of the Corporation of People who Need to get Stuff Done This Year, it has been my task to examine numerous complaints regarding your conduct. After due consideration of the offenses on record, I regret to tell you that I have decided to let you go. Please kindly take your law, and GTFO. Sincerely, Julia." Seemingly unfazed by this message...Murphy only snickered. 2012...was certain to be interesting. Haha! Here's hoping you have an awesome year!
It's Friday and we are getting close to the 2012, so I say this: Youth is when you're allowed to stay up late on New Year's Eve. Middle age is when you're forced to.
My family's secret to holiday laughs: spoof gifts. Mine this year was...the ugliest blouse EVER. It was a pastel pink silk blouse, with gigantic ruffles, white crocheted sleeves, more ruffles, and some lace. My family put a Kohls tag on it, but I'm pretty sure my cousin sewed it. There's nothing wrong with pink, ruffles, or lace...but my family knows I personally never wear pastels, and prefer a sleek dark ensemble (with corset, because of my OCD fit obsession). Being a good sport, I put it on. They laughed hysterically, and tried to convince me, "No, the Molly Weasley look is in!" My 16 year old sister's joke on my father was much meaner...involving a clever "baby bump" pad in her shirt, sonogram copies from my cousin, and a, "#1 Grandpa" shirt for my dad, who has no grandchildren. I thought he was going to have a stroke! Remember: Laughter really is the secret to health, happiness, and success - Myth Confirmed!
Christmas was so hectic I really didn't even see the grandkids opening their presents! All I remember is a flurry of tissue paper flying all over and little kids who moved so fast I only got pictures of the backs of their heads.
Thanks, Laura. I have a gigantic Polish-German family...we literally added thirteen babies this year. We have every personality represented. The rich uncle with all the gadgets, the ghost of my christmas future; full on crazy cat lady...twenty-something cats in a small house. The hypochondriac, who thinks she needs to go to the ER for a hangnail...all the good nutty family stereotypes. I won't lie, I fight with my family. We fight about everything, from politics and religion, to the idiotic things...like a vicious arguement my sister and I had. She loves Harry Potter, I read it. We seriously fight. Her favorite character was Draco, "because he's so pretty!!" Mine was Severus, because I found him interesting, dynamic and relatable. Since I began professional psychic work, and soul counseling, I tell everyone: every single family on earth is dysfunctional. Every family is crazy. Every one. The easiest way to cope with the stressful holidays is to laugh at them, and your self, and make the most of it, fights and all. We fight a lot about my beliefs, but have mostly learned not to talk about that. So, yes, I joke about them...but not out of malice. I just...genuinely find it funny my father really did call our local bishop to beg for an exorcism. After all truth is often stranger, and funnier than fiction! Like you, I wouldn't trade them, or my family's unique crazy, for anything. Except maybe a holiday with my in-laws! Haha! Have a great night!
It's the end of 2011, and I'm going to share with all of you an exercise I've been doing for years. At the end of each year, I look back on the last twelve months. What went right, what went wrong, what unexpected things arose? What goals did I reach, what do I still need to work on? And, what are my 2012 goals? This is a sampling of my assessment: Good: found employment as a psychic, found a new friend in my kitten, secured a position as sempai in my martial arts course. Bad: my family is still convinced I'm a satan-possessed schizophrenic. My car is finally dead...and now needs to be replaced. Great: I took huge leaps forward in my health and happiness. I learned to laugh at myself. I'm happier now than I've ever been. Unexpected: I ended up on a social networking site, and found a level of love and acceptance I didn't think the internet was capable of, and made amazing friends! (Sincerest thanks, to you all!) Needs work next year: More focused energies toward my performing arts dreams. And, I still need to focus on making close friends face to face. Realistic goals: test for nidan in martial arts. Get my psychic business booming. Make one appearance on television. Crazy goals: pull off a spot on BB on my first application. Get my parents to read one single book on psychic arts and spirit communication...at least get them to stop pleading with the local bishop for an exorcism! What I'm most grateful for: my drastically improved happiness, and my amazing new friends. For all of you, I wish a happy 2012, and all your dreams fulfilled.
