Well as far as I know it, the purpose of the votes is to get your profile closer to the top. So lets say if the producer goes to look for applicants, they are more likely to look within the first few pages as opposed to the applicants on the last page (lowest points.) Just because you get the most votes doesn't mean that you will get picked. Its to get yourself to stand out in the crowd.
