RealityWanted's Most Wanted, an Interview with Rommel, Americas Toughest Jobs

How cool is this, I have been interviewing reality TV cast members for years now and we are at the point where we can start interviewing reality TV stars that started their journey via RealityWanted.com. I will have 4 or 5 new
interviews coming in November with members of RealityWanted.com and you wil be able to see on NBC, SCI FI, MTV, FOX and more.

Last night I had the chance to chat with Rommel from NBC's Americas Toughest Jobs, not only was I excited to chat with a RealityWanted member who signed up, applied to two shows, was called back for both, and landed a role but I
found myself envious and exited for Rommel about the opportunity he had the chance to take part in.

Rommel, a karate instructor originally from Blackwood, NJ now lives in Los Angeles teaching martial arts for Karate Kids. Rommel has competed in martial arts both nationally and internationally and was on the US team in 1998 and the national team in 1999.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: It's great to finally talk with you today. I wanted to catch up with you before Saturdays show since there are only two episodes left.

A. Rommel, Americas Toughest Jobs: It's great to talk with you man, I love the site and had a blast on the show.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Talk to me about how you found yourself in LosAngeles, on RealityWanted.com and NBC's Americas Toughest Jobs?

A. Rommel, Americas Toughest Jobs:  I traveled to Los Angeles to help a martial arts client and after a couple of weeks in LA I loved the area and lifestyle so I packed my things up in New Jersey and headed west. After living in Los Angeles for a little while, I wanted to take a stab at
some shows and ran across RealityWanted.com. I loved how easy it was to use and it's very user friendly so I signed up and applied to The Mole and Americas Toughest Jobs.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Did you hear back on both shows or just Americas Toughest Jobs?

A. Rommel, Americas Toughest Jobs: I actually got called back for both shows. I was called back first for The Mole.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com:  Did you go in for an audition?

A. Rommel, Americas Toughest Jobs: Yes, I was brought in with a group of people and made it through a series of cuts but never landed a role. In a way I was happy since I love physical challenges and got my share on the
show.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: I did an interview once with a casting director who told me people should only apply to shows they feel they are a fit for,not to apply to every show they see. People should have their "eye on the
prize".

A. Rommel, Americas Toughest Jobs: I agree, I have been the kind of person to take on physical challenges my entire life and I am very competitive. I knew I was built for shows like The Mole and Americas Toughest Jobs, but I
wasn't looking for love so I did not apply to any dating shows.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: That's something people should pay attention to while reading this interview. Often time's members of our site will blindly apply to every show just to get on TV. Casting directors see this and will
sometimes pass on them. Most, if not all, casting directors want people who are made for their show. There are many people who have had ups and downs in the dating world and are perfect for a dating show and others who a very active and great for shows like Survivor.

A. Rommel, Americas Toughest Jobs:  I agree.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Since you landed two auditions, what do you think you did that other RealityWanted members can learn from?

A. Rommel, Americas Toughest Jobs:  It is so important to be yourself. I saw people trying out for the show rehearsing lines or acting like someone they really weren't. It's reality TV not a scripted part, you just need to be who you are.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: What other casting tips come to mind?

A. Rommel, Americas Toughest Jobs:  It's funny, I have friends in Los Angeles who are in the casting and modeling world and waiting for someone to come scout them out, pick them out of a crowd, or just call them in for a
show. If you really want something you have to go out and get it.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: What's next for you, do you want to do more shows?

A. Rommel, Americas Toughest Jobs: I can't do any non scripted shows for at least a year but I can do scripted gigs. Of all things when I got back from filming Americas Toughest Jobs I got called by the casting company for The
Mole asking me if I wanted to film a new show in Argentina.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: That's very cool and brings me to another tip for everyone on the site. Be sure to stay cool with any of the casting directors you get in touch with since many of them will call you back for
others show even if you don't make it on the one you originally applied for.

By the way, the show they called you about will air in November on SCI FI, it's called Estate Of Panic and a few of our members landed roles on the show.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: We have had members on the site get frustrated after they apply to one show and don't hear back, what would you tell them?

A. Rommel, Americas Toughest Jobs: That's easy, if you don't have patience and keep trying you probably shouldn't even be on a reality show since most of them require patience, skill, and determination.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Well said, so tell everyone how many episodes are left and when can we see you next?

A. Rommel, Americas Toughest Jobs: There are two episodes of Americas Toughest Job left and I can tell you I am at least on this Saturdays show but I can't tell you anything beyond that.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Did you have fun filming the show?

A. Rommel, Americas Toughest Jobs: This was an adventure of a lifetime. I went crab fishing in the Bearing Sea, I went oil rigging, I drove a semi on the frozen tundra, and stood toe to toe with a bull. It was an amazing
journey that I got to share with everyone who watched the show especially my family, it brought us closer together.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: No kidding, how did the show bring you and your family closer?

A. Rommel, Americas Toughest Jobs: My family was able to share in the experiences I had, by watching me on TV, they even brought my parents in for an episode and my father got to be a mini celebrity when the episode aired.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Rommel, I am envious and at the same time honored that our site played a small role in facilitating this once in a lifetime experience you had. We can't take credit, there are so many people
involved in the casting process but I am happy we had the ability to help introduce you to the people who made this happen.

What else are you up to now that the show is almost over?

A. Rommel, Americas Toughest Jobs: I am now part of a great charity called Entertainers That Care, you can find them online at http://entertainersthatcare.com/. We just wrapped up Reality Rumble Two and
have some exciting new events coming soon.

Mark, RealityWanted.com: Excellent my friend, I do talk with Tim online from ETC and had the chance to view the event photos and more, I hope to attend the next deal. Please keep in touch.
