From Executive Producer Ryan Seacrest and the Producers of Average Joe comes a new NBC dating show, "Mommas Boys".  We got the chance to interview casting director Bryan Stinson to find out what they are looking for in an applicant and a few reality TV casting tips.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Bryan, thank you for taking the time to talk with us today.

A. Bryan Stinson, Casting Director: Not a problem, I love providing information to others that will help them land a spot on TV.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: How did you get into casting reality shows?

A. Bryan Stinson, Casting Director: I actually started as a theme park performer at Universal Studios in Orlando FL. Later I auditioned for a spot as a game show host for Nickelodeon. I worked as the host for Nickelodeon’s live shows for about 10 years when I decided to relocate to Los Angeles. I soon started to realize that I got more satisfaction helping friends get acting and TV gigs so I switched gears and got into casting.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: What was the first reality show/game show you did casting for?

A. Bryan Stinson, Casting Director: My very first casting gig was for the game show “Street Smarts.”

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: I remember that show, it was sort of a spin off of Jay Leno’s deal when he would go out on the street and see how smart people were.

A. Bryan Stinson, Casting Director: Yes, that was the show.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: What did you work on after that?

A. Bryan Stinson, Casting Director: After “Street Smarts” I worked on NBC’s “The Average Joe” and then “Show Bizz Moms and Dads.”

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: I know you’re working on the new show “Mommas Boys” which is currently posted on our site. Can you tell us what the show is all about?

A. Bryan Stinson, Casting Director: “Mommas Boys” is going to be about moms who are frustrated their sons have not found the right woman. On the show we will have several single men along with their mothers. The moms will live with the single woman on the show and help their sons make the right choice.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: What are you looking for in applicants?

A. Bryan Stinson, Casting Director: First and foremost we are casting moms who are close to their sons, are outspoken and opinionated. The sons need to be single and ready to find the right woman. We are also looking for single ladies that are looking for the right guy.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Sounds like a pretty cool show. Can you give applicants any quick tips on things to do or not to do when trying to be cast on this or any other reality show?

A. Bryan Stinson, Casting Director: My first suggestion for all applicants is to be sure and read the casting call breakdown before you apply.  Be sure you read the casting call and what the casting director is looking for before you hit the APPLY NOW button, you can end up wasting your time and the casting directors time.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: I see that happen a lot on our site and other casting sites. I have seen males apply to shows casting females only and people who live in Kansas apply to casting calls that require people to live in Los Angeles. Any other specific or general reality casting tips you can provide?

A. Bryan Stinson, Casting Director: People need to know who they are before they come to the audition.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Makes sense but we all may think we are someone we really aren’t sometimes right?

A. Bryan Stinson, Casting Director: Great point, so I suggest applicants ask their friends, families, and even their enemies how they would describe them. I like applicants that can walk in, sit down with me, and within five minutes I know if they are the villain, the best friend, and so on. Also, if you apply for a dating show you better know what type of mate you are looking for. I like applicants who can provide in-depth detail and applicants who are passionate about what they want and what they’re looking for.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: We really appreciate you taking the time to chat with us today about NBC’s new reality show “Mommas Boys” and the reality show interview tips. Do you know when the show will air?

A. Bryan Stinson, Casting Director: It should air after the Olympics, around the end of August on NBC.
