Casting Call Information

City: Any City

State: NY

Below are the descriptions of the characters:

Tina - African American, 40s, for interview had her hair cut but at time had longer hair back in a pony tale, 5'8, slightly podgy, wears glasses. Vivacious, chatty, positive person. She has 2 sons in their 20s and is a proud mother. She is currently working in a day care centre and is a very caring person. She did so before the storm as well. Easy-going person thrust into hero role.

Nevada - African American, 80s, wheel chair bound, very small lady and old. Medium-length black hair. Left leg has been amputated. Does have a prosthetic limb but did not have it on. (need to check at the knee or higher). Sweet woman, but I can imagine she can be very stubborn and a force to be reckoned with. - WE ARE NOT NECESSARILY LOOKING FOR SOMEONE IN THEIR 80'S. IT CAN BE SOMEONE IN THEIR LATE 60'S and UP THAT WE WILL MAKE LOOK OLDER

STORYLINE:

Tina McGovin decides to stay in New Orleans to look after her feisty, one legged grandmother, Nevada (87), who had paid for Tina to go through college. Her parents are also sitting out the storm 4 miles away (need to get accurate just estimate). As the city floods, Tina manages to get through to her mother by telephone on Monday morning. Her mother says that the water is rising fast...and then her phone cuts out. Tina tells her grandmother that they both need to get upstairs. Stubborn Nanny' won't budge even when a wave bursts into her ground floor apartment. In an instance Tina picks up her kicking and screaming grandmother upstairs to safety through the rising water.
Tina makes a sign using a sheet and parcel tape to try and attract helicopters - 'HELP ELDERLY WOMAN IN WHEELCHAIR'. They stay trapped in the heat and air of filthy water for 2 days, while rescue helicopters buzz over the city rescuing people, but them.
They are rescued by boat and taken first to the Interstate and then, by truck, to the unmanned and unsupplied Convention Center. Tina rings her sister, Roxie, in New York and discovers that her parents are safe and also at the Convention Center.
She meets up with her parents in an emotional reunion and calls her sister in New York City [see below]. Sister, Roxie, and brother, Rendell, perform a rescue mission by driving a second-hand SUV, with the fortune of still having it's State Police sticker in the windshield, into New Orleans, where they rescue their family (thus beating the official state and federal rescue efforts).
