Big Brother 12

by David McAlpine

Last night on Big Brother 12, the house was turned upside down after last week's initial target, Rachel, won Head of Household and the ultimate power for the week. But before Rachel wins, we see that Brendon reveals to everyone that he has an extensive background in science, hoping that coming clean will take the target off his back. According to Enzo, that's not going to happen. Of course, no one knows that Andrew is a doctor or Ragan is a professor, so perhaps that wasn't the best move on his part.

Flash to after Rachel wins HoH and, for some reason, Andrew is jumping up and down. Whenever Andrew got involved in this showmance is beyond me, but he was happy for some reason. Our resident girlie duo, Monet and Britney, were not so pleased, however.

Most people in the house think that Rachel isn't smart enough to make her own decisions and that Brendon is going to be the HoH this week. However, Brendon tells Rachel he wants to make decisions together (i.e. he wants to make the decisions but make her feel included). Meanwhile, Monet and Britney continue to complain about how much they hate everyone.

Rachel gets her HoH room complete with feather boa and tequila. Cue Monet to draw the conclusion that Rachel was a stripper and Britney to make several drunk jokes about Rachel's tequila. Granted, Rachel is shamelessly flaunting it, but those two are being outright bitches.

Hayden and Lane still think that Brendon is the key player this week, so Hayden knows that he's the one who he has to strategize with. Meanwhile, Hayden tries to get to know Kristen better and the two have a moment, though Hayden insists the two of them can't be a showmance. However, he's willing to try and save her this week along with The Brigade.

After Monet and Britney make more fun of people, Hayden tries to go talk to Rachel. Rachel tells Hayden that he saved her last week by putting up Annie (Really?), and she suggests that he, Kristen, her and Brendon be in an alliance. Hayden shrugs it off and tries to throw Monet and Britney under the bus instead, making Rachel suspicious of Hayden.

Meanwhile, Matt tries to do some game playing of his own by planting a seed in Rachel's head that Andrew thinks he has some power this week. It backfires, though, making Rachel more suspicious of Matt.

In this week's Have/Have Not Competition, the 12 houseguests split up into "crews" of 4 for a very urban time. As Rachel puts it, the backyard looked very "hood." Basically, it boiled down to each team picking one team member (in this case, Ragan, Kathy and Britney) and having 10 minutes to tape them to a wall, which would eventually raise straight up. After the taping was done, each team could use water cannons to squirt the other players in hopes of making them fall. The team whose player stayed up the longest would win and choose four people to be Have Nots for the week.

While taping their people down, Kristen thought it would be brilliant to leave Ragan's leg bent so he had some leverage as the wall went up. That proved to be the wrong idea, as Ragan's tape was the most unstable. As a result, no one tried to squirt water on him, and instead aimed for Kathy and Britney, who were both mummified. Like everyone thought, Ragan fell after just over 30 minutes, leaving it between those two.

Since Britney was so taped in, Ragan's team helped Kathy's team to squirt Britney, eventually making her slip out of her original position. The tape started tugging at her neck and she quit because she was choking, giving Kathy and her team (Andrew, Hayden and Matt), privileges for the week. Since Ragan's team helped them win, they gave the Have Not status to Britney's team (Money, Enzo and Brendon). Lucky for them, on top of slop, they get America's choice for the week: fruit cake and fish sticks.

Before nominations, everyone gathers in the living room to find out that Annie was indeed the Saboteur, getting a rowdy congrats from everyone. Hayden's ego was inflated even more (if that's even possible--I guess it is) and everyone is relieved that they don't have to worry about that twist anymore.

Britney and Monet each sit down with Rachel to plead their cases, hoping that they can turn the tide of the house. Britney throws out Andrew's name, as does Monet, both saying that they wouldn't have but Brendon and Rachel up and both having the same, cliche confessional flash saying, "Of course I would have put them up because I'm not stupid." Monet also brings up Matt because of how shifty he was being.

It's not so easy for those two, though. Hayden has a 2-on-1 with Brendon and Rachel where Brendon basically forces him into an alliance, clearly on a power trip. Even more, he throws out names of everyone in the Brigade, prompting Hayden to fight for Monet and Britney. With Rachel's head up in the air, no one knows what she's going to do.

So Monet and Britney are left pouting, worried that they're going up, but hoping they're not, Hayden is freaking out because he's looking out for way too many people, Enzo is still making ridiculous comparisons to random things and Matt is still trying to convince everyone else in America that he's a genius. Lucky for Hayden and the gang, his pleas worked and Rachel ends up nominating Britney and Monet for eviction.

Tune in to Big Brother 12 on Wednesday at 9/8c to see who wins the Power of Veto and if it's used on either Britney or Monet--only on CBS!
