My grandmother died in June of this year. She was my rock. She was there to cradle me when I first came to this world, and I was holding her hand the moment she took her last breath. I've spent the last three months recovering from that. I've finally come to peace with the loss of my soulmate. Now life has to happen, and I'm ready to find my place back in this world and let the sunlight hit my face.

I am a single gay dad. I was married at one point in my life and came out to my wife, family and friends. It was the hardest thing I've ever done, but through it all I never let my daughter see me unhappy. She never saw me upset or stressed out...even though there were times that I was crumbling inside. I wanted to make sure not to let my situation affect her in a negative way. She knows how loved she is and what lengths I would go through to make her happy. That's my proudest accomplishment.

I was the last to board my flight. Everyone was seated and staring at me, waiting for me to take my seat. The overhead was pretty full, but I wasn't going to let them check my bag. So I tried to shove it in the compartment...as I'm forcing my bag in, the zipper breaks, and about 20 little bottles of hotel soap and shampoo fall out and hit the floor, but the worst was when a roll of toilet paper falls out and rolls down the aisle like a streamer.

I can talk to anybody about any subject. I love meeting new people. I love getting to know their stories. I have no problem doing that with a complete stranger. But if they try to ask me the same questions I'm a little guarded. You have to get to know me first before I let you below the surface. I'm a great conversationalist. As long as it's one way.

Loyalty. I may not make every birthday or wedding...but I'll never talk shit about you behind your back and I'll defend you as hard when you're standing next to me as when you're not in the room.

I can be a little ADD. I always have a lot going on. We may be at lunch and I'll be texting and emailing in between bites and conversation just to keep up with everything. I don't always make the best date. But don't forget. I'm loyal.

I'm a hard worker. I've had a history of not always being someone's first choice...but then something happens and I get the opportunity to prove myself and show them that I was the right choice.

If I could learn to let things go and not hold on to grudges and people who have wronged me, I would probably walk a little taller and not get so tired of carrying that baggage on my back all the time.
