You missed it, didn't you!? "American Idol" brought us Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson, and ABC is officially bring back America's beloved singing competition where stars are born!

Ben Sherwood, co-chairman, Disney Media Networks and president, Disney|ABC said, "'American Idol' on ABC...that has a nice ring to it," adding, "'Idol' is an entertainment icon, and now it will air where it belongs, in ABC's lineup of addictive fan favorites alongside 'Dancing with the Stars' and 'The Bachelor.' America, get ready for the return of a bigger, bolder and better-than-ever 'Idol'," in ABC's press release.

"American Idol" farewell on FOX seems like it just happened, but ABC has hopes of reviving the successful series. "'American Idol' is a pop-culture staple that left the air too soon," said Channing Dungey, president, ABC Entertainment in the press release.

A host and judges will be announced at a later time. We're obviously not banking on the show's iconic Ryan Seacrest to return, but ABC plans on bringing "American Idol" back for the 2017-2018 season. Stay tuned for more announcements as they're made available.
