Marriage Boot Camp: Love and Behold

The first exercise is confronting themselves. They have to get rid of the shame and like who they are. They must learn how to stop beating themselves up as well as taking action to increase self worth. Sundy, Sean, Althea, Ink and Sugar Bear go with David and Elizabeth while the rest stay with Jim and Ilsa. The point is that if you don't love yourself, you can't love someone else. On one side of the wooden paddle they have to write what they hate about themselves. Then they use the paddle against a punching bag to get their aggression out. Their insecurities are all similar, "I hate that I get so angry", "I hate that I'm jealous of other people", "I hate that I failed". But per usual, Ink thinks the exercise is stupid and claims that he doesn't have insecurities.

During the second exercise Ink blows up. They were supposed to throw their wooden paddle in the fire with their significant other. That way they can hear what their partner's insecurities are. When Sarah discloses her self-hatred and cries, Ink says he feels nothing. He ultimately refuses to participate and throws his paddles and storms off. Its obvious he can't take responsibility for Sarah's pain. When co-director David approaches Ink, Ink finally breaks down. He hates being judged and he feels like no one understands him. Sarah eventually goes after him. Ink tells her that he only needs one person to understand him and he wants it to be her. However, he's only willing to give her 30% of his heart. Wow.

Directors David and Elizabeth focus on Sean and Catherine. Mr. and Mrs. Perfect aren't so perfect after all. Behind closed doors the two fight dirty, calling each other "soulless" and making sure they both stay quiet so the others don't hear them fighting. It's like they can keep perspective and logic when discussing their problems but can't think straight when alone and their anger gets the better of them. The directors want to break them so that they can build a strong foundation of communication.

Judge Toler's judgements:
Sean and Catherine: The pair needs to be consistent and not so ashamed of the dysfunction.
Ink and Sarah: Ink needs to not let his mind get in the way of his heart.
Mama June and Sugar Bear: Mama June has to make peace with being with Sugar Bear or without him and decide.
Sundy and Cedrik: Sundy is congratulated on finding understanding towards finding peace.
Althea and Benzino: Althea needs to stop literally picking at Benzino to upset him.
