Possibly overconfident Christina, the hunter from Kentucky, and her partner positive-Steve, the life coach from Los Angeles are in the Mexican jungle of Quintana Roo. The area has dense mountainous terrain, fire ants, mosquitoes, 200 pound cayman, howler monkeys and boas. It also boasts high heat and humidity.

The first night they focus their attention on starting a fire. However, the dampness from the humidity won't allow even the fire starter to work. Knowing that their flint is limited, they work through the night and the next morning. Once the fire is finally started, their energy is focused on keeping it lit. Unfortunately the presence of fire equals an exit for the bats... that eat mosquitoes... that are now eating Christina and Steve. Even the termite nest that Christina finds doesn't keep the buzzing bugs away when burned.

After the ever-present snake meal (a boa he threw at the cameraman), which Steve is devastated about due to his love for snakes, they work on their shelter. Their first abode is a teepee style which they make as an approach for mobility. But since they don't find themselves in need of moving, they decide to lift their bed to get away from the bugs. Unfortunately it's to no avail and Steve is losing sleep because of Christina's verbalization with every bite she receives... eventually causing positive-Steve to loose his cool.

Before they head out for extraction they enjoy some frog leg-kabobs which allow just enough energy for their uphill hike. Even though they are starved and exhausted they swim 1/2 a mile to their extraction tractor and head home. Although it was Christina's first survival experience she raised her PSR to 6.4, and lost 30 pounds. Steve also raised his PSR score to 7.9 and lost 36 pounds and 14% of his muscle mass.
