Jessa Says Yes To The Dress

The second Duggar daughter to wed is Jessa. She is marrying Ben Seewald in just two few short months and there's plenty left to do before the big day. One of the key items for a wedding is the dress and along with Jessa's grandmother, mother and sisters Ben's mother and sisters are in town to shop, too (they live over 200 miles away). If Michelle goes shopping with each of her daughters she could spend over 45 hours total helping her daughters try on their dresses. And since the Duggars chose to be more modest than the average bride, their dresses together could weigh over 300 pounds.

Surprisingly Jessa was eager to try on a blush colored dress, veering away from the traditional white and trying to stay far away from her sister Jill's style. There's quite a few things she and Ben are willing to do that make her slightly different than the rest of her family, but still maintaining their Christian values.

Jill still tutors her younger siblings and one in particular, James, loves spending time with both her and Derrick. Lucky for him because since the Dillards can't be apart, Jill likes to drive Derrick to and from work. In total she drives more than 100 miles a week for this task. Poor James is playing chaperone even though a chaperone is no longer needed.

Bridesmaids and Babies

Unbeknownst to the lovely ladies at First Baptist Church in Bentonville, Jessa and Ben have invited over 900 guests to their wedding (invitations designed by Josh who also designed Jill's invitations). Which means they are expecting between 1100 and 1300 guests total. Another surprise is the fact that since the Duggar home is over 35 minutes away, they would also like to have their reception at the church, too. Unfortunately their gym/reception area only holds 500 people. Not to deter Jessa, though, because she's happy having guests be outside, as well. Since she won't be having a cake, skipping another tradition, it doesn't matter where guests eat their ice cream. Hmmm... an ice cream social wedding. Ok.

Two weeks ago Jessa ordered her bridesmaids dresses online. Now it's time to try them on. Luckily there's a seamstress in the family for last minute alterations. Another helpful thing to have in a sibling is a photographer. But even in engagement photos, no kissing is allowed. It would take Jinger 36 hours to take engagement photos of all of her siblings. Even a photo shoot involves chaperones.

Meanwhile, Jill and Derrick are going to their first midwife appointment. They roll up to a shack like something out of Texas Chainsaw Massacre but she's known these midwives for years. She must feel comfortable with this since she's been studying midwifery for over 3 years.
