Big Brother 16: a Little Bit of Déjà Vu

If I had to rank Big Brother episodes, this one would be pretty low on the list. It might have been the combination of the lack of anything ACTUALLY happening or what they failed to mention about the BBRewind twist.

We already knew something was up when the clock was set to stop 35 minutes into the episode. Hmm, well that's not enough time to play HOH,POV and eviction. The episode begins with Victoria realizing that the boys are in this together and she will most likely be going home. She talks game with Derrick and decides that she is going to help him out. She is going to tell people that Derrick will vote her out and she doesn't trust him. She even puts on a convincing show for Frankie! Where was this Victoria earlier? I mean, this is still all apart of Derrick's plan but hey, she's doing a good job.

Jury Time! Looking back on it, this was definitely one of the better parts of the episode. And that's saying something. They're all sitting around wondering who will be the next person to join them. No one wants it to be Nicole but Nicole walks in and it's a collective sound of disappointment. She explains that she couldn't win to save her life and that it was a double eviction so someone else is on their way. Now the absolute best part of the episode. It was so good, it almost didn't seem real. Christine walks into the jury house and almost no one even acknowledges her presence. Awkward doesn't even begin to describe.

Back to the houseguests and it is time for the live vote! Derrick heads to the DR door to cast the first vote, the door won't open, the lights flicker and the live eviction is done. Julie tells the houseguest that because they pressed the button, the live evictions will not be happening. The nominees will no longer be on the block and the entire week will start over. She tells the houseguest that pressing the button caused a BBRewind and to get ready for the HOH competition.

By this time, there is less than 20 mins left in the episode. And that's when I realize there won't be an eviction tonight. It won't run like a DE episode...it'll just run like an episode. And the big part of the twist they just decided to not mention: the same exact competitions will be played. The HOH competition begins and it's the exact same one they had a couple days ago. Exact.Same.One. And this is where the BBRewind twist and I part ways. I don't think it's fair to use a comp that is really skill based to replay. Why not a quick quiz comp and make the playing field more balanced? Not just give HOH to Frankie again. The HOH runs over so we'll have to wait until Sunday to see if Frankie pulled it off again.

If it seems like nothing really happened this episode...it's because nothing actually happened this episode. Stay tuned everyone because I'm not sure if they executed this twist to its full potential.

Find out who will be nominated on Sunday, at 8/7c on CBS.

SPOILER ALERT:
Feeds did not show the end of the comp but did turn on shortly after and.... Caleb has won HOH. I'm curious to see where Frankie went wrong in the comp. As of right now, I don't know when nominations will be held. It's also not clear who Caleb's targets are. But he's definitely running out time to decide!
