Duggar Daughter Dates

Fresh on the heels of asking Ben to live near the Duggars full time, we get to see Jill and Jessa go on dates with their significant others, along with their younger brother chaperones. (By the time all kids are married each sibling will have spent more than 300 hours chaperoning.)

Jill and Derick are going hiking (each year the Duggars take enough steps for a person to walk across the U.S. 7 times) and it's also her birthday (now that jill is 23 the combined age of all the kids is 293). And boy do they hold hands like pros now that they're engaged (on the show, married in real life). It looks like they're afraid to let go... maybe Derick is afraid his angel will fly away. And how cute is James? What is he, like 7? Besides thinking the cops are the best people to call if the couple breaks their courtship rules, he also mistakes chickpeas (hummus) for "chicken peas". Adorable.

Jessa and Ben are going to the gun range... Second Amendment supporters, I see. Maybe Jim Bob should be taking the new guys shooting... put a little fear in them britches. Instead they have a little Duggar watching over them. (Jessa's a better shot, by the way.)

Duggar-sized Wedding Planning

Amanda Capps, two time midwife client of Jill's, will be baking their wedding cake. A traditional cake would need 50 layers to serve their entire guest list. Their plan is to have a french vanilla cake with strawberry filling, off-white buttercream frosting and garnished with flowers.... 16, 14, 12 and 6 inch rounds. Tagging along as chaperone to the cake testing is Jessa, who probably needs to pay close attention since she and Ben have been courting for 10 months at this point. That's like 70 months in Duggar time.

Another wedding thing on the to-do list is the venue, with mama Michelle as the chaperone. Occupancy limits will be their biggest issue, 300 max is not large enough for a Duggar wedding. No to Magnolia Gardens, no to the country club, yes to Cross Church in Springdale (where OG Duggars got married in 1984 with a mere 150 guests). I'm guessing this church is the only place that can hold the entire state of Arkansas that will be attending.
