We are up 2500ft in central Nicaragua with Adam, a 29 year old professional hunter and "alligator whisperer" from Florida, and Jaclyn, a 25 year old primitive skills teacher and vegetarian. Their PSR scores are similar... his at a 7.3 and hers at a 7.1. But have they made a mistake pairing a vegetarian with a hunter?

I missed where they announced their tools but watching him build a shelter with a machete the first day, and her start a fire the second day... I can assume what their tools are. Which means I'm not really sure why they didn't have a fire the first night, prompting them to discuss the need for body heat and the fact that he has a girlfriend, repeatedly.

Without water the body will start losing function within 48 hours. But the wet wood they're using to purify the stream water near their camp isn't getting the fire warm enough to boil. So they're forced to hike up to a waterfall for purer water. And after deciding to abandon their shelter for a cave, they quickly find their roommates are hundreds of spiders. Yay!

Adam kills a fer-de-lance, one of the most venomous in the world (one bite could've killed him in a matter of hours), and offers up a share to Jaclyn. But as a vegetarian Jaclyn is disgusted to eat snails and snake, but oddly enough she'll help him prepare it. Now, I'm not familiar with vegetarianism but snails aren't allowed? I get it, I guess. At this point Jaclyn has had near 30 calories and Adam is at 4 times that amount. I'm not sure if she can make it without protein. Eventually, though, Jaclyn eats a lizard, the caloric equivalent of a single chicken nugget!! She found it, he caught and killed it, they cooked it, she ate it! Good girl. A body needs protein to survive.

In order to hunt a large animal he had seen earlier in the day, Adam places a hot ember in a bed of moss and tries to smoke out the animal from it's cave. Very clever but ineffective.

In order to be rescued they have to trek 6 miles to reach a road used by local banana farmers. Do you think they want to devour the bananas on the back of that truck??

After 21 days we have just witnessed possibly the best team in the history of Naked and Afraid. They may not have eaten feasts or had the most impressive shelters, but their teamwork and compatibility are incomparable. Adam lost a total of 25 pounds but his PSR rose to 7.8, Jaclyn lost 18 pounds but her SPR rose to 7.5.
