Last night we watched the weight loss journey of Bruce Pitcher, a 29 year old, 5'10 and 382 pound high school football coach from Salt Lake City, UT. Bruce says he drinks 3-5 100 oz cups of soda every single day, usually starting at breakfast. His goal is to be a real mentor to his athletes. But we find out how Bruce really got in this position when he discloses how he started overeating as a child to try to find comfort from a verbally and sexually abusive father, who is now in jail.

His goal for the year is to lose half of his weight, 191 pounds. With the help of Chris and his wife, Heidi, Bruce will spend his first 90 days in Colorado at the Anschutz Health and Wellness Center in Aurora, CO. For the year-long weight loss journey, Chris has planned encouragements along the way. When Bruce meets weight loss goals Chris sets up a VIP visit to meet and work out with the Oakland Raiders, his favorite football team as well as a meeting with NFL San Francisco 49er legend, Jerry Rice, and Raghib "Rocket" Ismail. Bruce has always looked up to Ismail, who was also allegedly the victim of sexual abuse when he was a child.

Bruce lost 121 pounds by the 90 day mark. And though Bruce experienced a concussion, he still met his Phase II goal of losing 42 pounds. He weighed in at 212, having lost 47 additional pounds. Phase III will now be the original goal of getting to 191 pounds.

His father's parole hearing is coming up and Bruce is adamant about being there to make sure he doesn't get out. Although Chris is concerned about Bruce's well-being, he knows this is what Bruce needs to heal. Even though his father denies abusing Bruce, the judge disagrees and gives Bruce a chance to speak. Bruce encourages the judge to keep his father in jail both for the safety of others and for his own safety. A few weeks later Bruce tells Chris that he heard his father received life in prison. Let the healing being.

At the next weigh-in he is down to 196 pounds and has lost over 48% of his original body weight! The doctor tells him that he is now a great candidate for the skin removal surgery which will remove somewhere over 6 additional pounds. That would put Bruce at his weight loss goal!

At the final weigh-in in Los Angeles, his final weight is shown -- Bruce weighs in at 181 pounds. That is a total of 201 pounds lost and 10 pounds under his goal weight!
