Naked and Afraid Bares All: 'This Was Epic!'

You may be wondering what happens behind the scenes on Naked and Afraid. We now get that chance thanks to this weeks Bares All episode. It's all about the 12 survivors who were paired up, one man and one woman, complete strangers... no food, water or clothes. We review their physical and mental trauma from all over the globe: Fiji, Bolivia, Madagascar, Amazon, Belize and Malaysia.

As with any regular episode, we start off watching the awkward naked first meetings and dumb jokes that follow. We get it, guys, wifey says no hanky panky. But who really wants to have sex when you're starving to death? I mean, cuddling to stave off hypothermia could not be against your marital rules. One wife even says, "I didn't know if the woman was going to, like, attack him during the night." Get real, lady. The men, did however, lay out some honesty regarding their "morning situations." Apparently the way to avoid that is everyone ignore it. Seems pretty standard.

In regards to finding food, most of the contestants agree that anything that crawled in front of them became a conversation... "is it edible?". Grubs taste like bacon and parrot heads taste like chicken, and dreamt-about-waterbugs turn out to taste like bacon wrapped shrimp. Who knew? Are you willing to find out? How about if your hunger was undeniable and you were "watching your body cannibalize itself"?

Think of the last time you fell asleep at your desk. We all know exhaustion can set in at any time. But for these contestants it hit harder than we can imagine. They started setting their goals lower and lower due to their weakness and found themselves out of control, even slurring words and forgetting their partners name. This is probably why they found themselves in emergencies while on these journeys. Anything from slicing your leg with a machete to eating bad food. But the worst part were the pests; mosquitoes sweaters (because there were so many on you at any given moment), leaches on your vagina/scrotum, ticks in your eyes... by the way, do you know how to deter ticks? Apparently ammonia. As in urine. As in bathing in your own urine each morning. Speaking of urine, how about hygiene? The biggest argument was where to urinate, find a bathroom or go outside the "front door"? This man vs woman debate goes one way and we all know where that pee is. What do you do about number two... leaves vs pebbles.... roughage vs smooth stone. This is where a butt scratcher comes in handy. Yep, that's a real thing on Naked and Afraid.

Several people quit the show, either before their adventure started or somewhere during the 21 days. These reasons ranged anywhere from pesky mosquitoes to hemorrhoids to malaria and other diseases. That doesn't leave the remaining team member feeling any more validated. Although it must feel pretty good to know that two women made it to the end alone, and no men did.

According to all, the sweetest day was extraction day. But it comes with a bittersweet sadness leaving the place that humbles you. And, every contestant has one thing in common when asked if they'd do it again, "YES!"
