Only one episode of The Bachelor has aired this season and there's already a controversy! On the first night in the mansion, Juan Pablo Galavis narrowed the playing field down from 27 to 18. Among those sent home were Lauren Higginson, who melted down over her lack of time with the man of the hour, and Kylie Lewis, who made an embarrassing exit after she misheard Juan Pablo and thought he said her name at the rose ceremony. Now, they're saying they were set up to look bad in front of millions of viewers.
In an interview with TMZ, Kylie says her hair color, her dress, and even what she did for her introduction was all carefully chosen by producers. She claims she had no say in anything that took place on that first night and, in other interviews, said that Juan Pablo seemed distracted throughout the introductions and cocktail party. Lauren spoke to E! News following her appearance on the show and said that producers edited her to look foolish, even admitting that she felt embarrassed for herself.
When Juan Pablo sat down with Catt Sadler and former Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky on E! News this week, he responded to the complaints from Kylie and Lauren. "It's been one episode, so I saw the same that you see - the special, the casting part, whenever they get out of the limo," he said. "So if they didn't portray themselves as they have to portray themselves, that's not our problem." The Bachelor went on to say that what we've seen both this season, and during his time on The Bachelorette with Desiree Hartsock, is just him being himself. "So I wouldn't complain at all," he added.
The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8/7c on ABC.
