The Real Housewives Of Atlanta Season 6: Episode 5 - Kandi and Todd

by Jessica Blackwell

This week on RHOA,  some hard truths were dealt and difficult lessons were learned.

After their blowup about Kenya, Phaedra wasn't speaking to Apollo. In her own words, she was killing him with silence, but either way, he was feeling the pain. After she jetted off to take some exams at her mortician school in Alabama, he sought the assistance of Peter, the wise old owl.  Peter basically laid it all out for Apollo: Kenya was looking to make a fool of Phaedra through him, and he allowed it to happen. I'm so glad someone finally said it - hopefully he listens to Peter and tries to apologize and get Phaedra back in his good graces.

It seems that Ms. Porsha is dragging her feet on becoming a strong, single woman. Her sister/assistant Lauren desperately wants her to move out of her mother's home, but homemade pancakes, walk in closets, and Netflix - all amenities of her mama's house - are looking pretty good to Porsha. I get that she's in a comfort zone right now, but she has to accept the fact that her old life is over, and step into her new one! She should take her sister's advice and get outta dodge.

Cynthia, still recovering from her fibroid surgery, is facing the fact that her daughter has a boyfriend named Arthur. At first she felt like it was cool, but after speaking with NeNe she may have changed her tune. Cynthia was just happy Noel told her about her little friend, but NeNe pointed out that Noel was too young to have a boyfriend and needs to keep her nose in the books. Sure, Cynthia followed up and met his family, but hopefully she will remind Noel that she is too young to date and keep her focused.

Kandi has been dealing with her mom's crazy behavior almost her whole life so it's nothing new to her. She even feels like the reason why she was single for so long was due to her mom's mistrust of those around her. Todd let Kandi know in a big way that if she doesn't deal with the "situation", she may lose him. Combine that with her best friend Carmon telling her the same thing, and you would think Kandi would want to nip her mother's behavior in the bud, but Todd had to force her to arrange a sit down with Joyce.

After her conversation that she had with her mother last week, it was clear why she didn't want to have a meeting with the three of them, but meet she did and boy did it get ugly! Mama Joyce told Todd that the engagement ring that he purchased was nice, but would have been more appropriate as a Christmas gift - meaning basically that he didn't spend enough money on it. After calling him an opportunist, she badgered him about the prenup and told him that he isn't a provider. She also made a snide remark about Carmon, who she has accused of having an affair with Todd, is just as much the lady of the house as Kandi. Carmon maintains that she would never do anything to jeopardize their friendship and Todd professed him undying love, so is Mama Joyce crazy? Is there some truth to the rumors that she says "the streets" are talking about, or is she ruining her daughter's chances with a good man? I guess time will tell..

Next week, Porsha lands in the hospital and Mama Joyce tries to fight Kandi's best friend Carmon. Stay tuned folks!
