The Voice Season 5: The Live Shows Part 1

by Jessica Blackwell

Play time is over for the Season Five contestants! Tonight, the live shows began and contestants from Team Blake and Team Adam took the stage alone for the first time! There are no more steals, and the fate of their team is out of the coaches hands as American begins voting!

Shelbie Z.

We kicked off the evening with Reba McNtyre "Fancy" and of course she was sassy with it! Besides making it to the live shows, she is also celebrating being a newlywed. Shelbie always hits the stage with the confidence of a pageant queen and tonight was no exception. Even if she doesn't win The Voice,

James Wolpert

He compared performing without his guitar to performing without clothes, so he was very glad to  "clothe himself" He performed "A Piece of You" by Joni Mitchell and it really did feel like he was home again. After almost bombing his last performance, he more than redeemed himself tonight. At this point, we know

Ray Bourdreaux

For me, Ray was a straggler that I honestly felt would be eliminated by the live shows. Tonight, his performance of "Home" showed that he deserves to be on this show. Although he struggled a bit during rehearsals, his performance tonight seemed smooth and effortless.

Will Champlain

This guy is a freakin genius!! He took to the stage tonight, performing an acoustic, stripped down version of "Secrets" by One Republic, but he still managed to put on a good show. Maybe it was advice from his coach, but either way, Will eased his way onto the main stage from the piano like a pro!

Tessanne Chin

We started the night of fierce with Shelbie and ended just as strong with Tessanne. Since coming on The Voice, she's been on the cover of magazines and even got a phone call from Bob Marley's son, but she still has to prove herself on the stage. She chose to perform "Many Rivers to Cross" and brought the house DOWN! Adam called her a flawless singer, and boy was he right! I think she's a real contender and has a big chance at winning the whole thing!

Tomorrow night the live shows continue as Team Christina and Team Cee-lo take the stage. Stay tuned!

The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm EST on NBC.
