You should never get too comfortable in the game of Survivor, because good ol' Jeff Probst is always on hand to switch things up. On this week's episode, the tribes headed to Redemption Island to watch Brad, John, and Laura M. duke it out to "stay in the game".
The three players ran across a balance beam, retrieving bags of puzzle pieces to complete a numbers puzzle. Despite falling several times, John was able to complete his puzzle, just not before Laura. It's time to say goodbye to Brad, and it'll be interesting to see his take on his gameplay after watching it on tv.
Laura tries to give an immunity idol clue to Vytas, who burns it, making this one of the worst twists in Survivor history. Only Candice and John were silly enough to think it would actually give someone an advantage in the game. It's pretty safe to say we won't be seeing this again in the future... I hope!
The tribes are switched up and Galang, we've got a problem. That new tribe consists of Monica, Tina, Katie, Laura B, Kat, and Vytas while Gervase, Caleb, Aras, Tyson, Hayden, and Ciera team up on Tadhana. In their first challenge as a new tribe, Galang makes a huge mistake, forgetting one of their crates out in the water. That gives Tadhana the lead they need to blow through this challenge, but they clearly aren't great at puzzles. Tadhana comes back and begins a series of premature celebrations - their puzzle is wrong, too. The guys and Ciera win, while the ladies and Vytas face tribal.
Who can blame Vytas for feeling insecure about his position within the new tribe? Yet, if there's anything a good Survivor players knows, it's sit back and wait for someone to do something stupid. Enter Kat, who tries to make a play to blindside Monica because she talks too much. First of all, that's a horrible reason to vote someone out and secondly, it's not time for that move.
Tina lets Monica know that Kat is plotting against her so Mrs. Culpepper calls her out on it, then brings everyone in the loop at tribal council. Kat tries to defend herself, but Vytas enters the conversation to throw a little halo over his head. "I would NEVER do anything like that!" It's enough for the other women on the tribe, and a tearful Kat is sent to Redemption Island.
Then, she utters one of the best post-blindside reactions ever: "Who wants to date someone that doesn't make the merge?" I'm sure Hayden will understand...
