Andy Herren, winner of Big Brother 15

Last night, on the live season finale of Big Brother, Andry Herren was crowned the winner in a 7-2 jury vote. Despite being one of the most popular with his fellow houseguests, he had a hand in just about every single one of their evictions. His passion for the game, secretive big moves, and likeable personality were all factors in his victory. An excited (and tired) Andy chatted with RealityWanted today in an exclusive interview about his stellar summer in the Big Brother house.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What were your expectations walking into the house this summer, in terms of how you thought you were going to fare in the game?
A. Andy: I mean, I never went into this house thinking I was going to be the winner. Maybe that's not the best attitude, but I was thinking just make it to certain goals. Don't get out first, make it to jury... but at the same time, I never got cocky. I always planned and plotted for the worst case scenario.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: There was a lot of talk about the bullying and racist comments that were made this summer in the house. What were your feelings about what were said and is there a reason that you didn't speak up about it? Were you just letting people make their own bed and lie in it?
A. Andy: It was a combo. I did not speak up in front of a lot of people because I never wanted to be at the center of any trouble. At the same time, when things were said, I had really good one on one conversations with Candice or Howard. I let them know I didn't condone what was said. I think that was just the same as if I yelled in front of a group. They knew where I stood.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Your main strategy this season was not to get any blood on your hands, as they say in the Big Brother game. Dr. Will defended that strategy, saying it's not only viable, but he did it as well when he played. Do you think the outcome would've been different if it was obvious that you had a hand in so many evictions?
A. Andy: Oh, without a doubt! That's why I played so meticulously. I wanted everyone to think I was just happy go lucky when in fact, I was a lot of people's biggest threat.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You said that you took Gina Marie to the end because of a promise you made on the first day. I think you took her because you knew you'd beat her hands down in a debate. Is there any merit to my theory?
A. Andy: Your theory is totally right, for sure! I did hold up the promise thing but at the same time, I thought I could kill Gina Marie in a debate. As soon as she gave her first answer, I was like, "I got this in the bag!"

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: In your final speech, you reiterated how much you like everyone and how sorry you were for lying and backstabbing them. Did you mean what you said?
A. Andy: I love everyone in that house. I know I bitched about Elissa a lot but I like her and I hope we can still be close. There's nobody that I disliked, especially people on that jury... some more than others. Helen lives 10 minutes away in Chicago, so I'm sure I'll see her the most.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What are you planning on doing now that you're out of the Big Brother house, and a winner no less?
A. Andy: My plan is to go back home and be in Chicago with the people I love. That's the one thing about this experience. I wanted to win this money but I'm really lucky to go back to what I have.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Season 16 casting is already underway. What advice do you have for people applying?
A. Andy: My advice is to not go into the house with any specific strategy. It all flies out the window when you meet everyone. Make a lot of personal connections at the beginning. Don't play too hard too fast. That's what gets people out. You have to be adaptable every week.
