The Top 6 from SYTYCD Season 10

by Gina Scarpa

Who didn't love Sean Cheesman's opening routine last night on So You Think You Can Dance? It was absolutely beautiful and this has got to be the best Top 6 the show has ever seen! The night was filled with solos, duets with all-stars, and duets with fellow contestants. Two more dancers were eliminated and America will decide next week who America's Favorite Dancers are.

In preparation for the finale, let's focus on the individual this week and rank the Top 6 solos.

6. Hayley
The trouble I've had with Hayley this season is that she's a tad forgettable. Other than her hip hop routines, and the contemporary piece with Paul last night, I really can't remember any of her other dances. The same is true with her solo last night. It's not that I didn't like it, because I did. I just can't really tell you much about it because by the time the end of the night came, it was a distant memory.

5. Paul
The ladies love Paul and who can blame them? He's a great dancer with a great personality and a great look. Great, great, great! Usually, ballroom solos tend to fall a little flat but Paul attacks each move and has the crowd screaming. He seems like he's the most marketable beyond the show. Am I the only one that can see him on Glee?

4. Aaryn
Let's all take a minute and remember that Aaryn wasn't even supposed to be here! He was cut! Not only that, half the time, I forget he's even a tapper. He tackles each style as if it's the one he grew up doing but when he threw on his tap shoes, we were all reminded of his amazing talent. A tapper has certainly never made it this far but Aaryn has everything going for him - including that solo!

3. Jasmine
Jasmine has been my favorite dancer since the very beginning. I rooted for her through Vegas week, the Green Mile, Top 20, and each week after that. Jasmine's spirit is as beautiful as her dancing and for her solo this week, she chose Destiny's Child's rendition of "Amazing Grace". Jasmine is certainly amazing, indeed!

2. Fik-Shun
Other than tWitch, there has not been a contestant on So You Think You Can Dance that is as entertaining to watch as Fik-Shun. His solos never disappoint but this one had a little extra oomph in it! Jesse Tyler Ferguson was on his feet as Fik-Shun left the stage, grinning from ear to ear, and I felt like giving him a standing ovation too!

1. Amy
There is just no denying Amy's talent and versatility as a dancer. She has been given many cutesy routines all season, then showed great maturity when paired with All Star and choreographer Travis Wall last week. In her last shot to impress America before a winner is named, she danced a classical routine to The Red Violin soundtrack that was absolutely stunning. If this competition was purely about dance, she hands down should win it.

Okay, even though this week's recap was all about solos, I have to just mention Tyce DiOrio's amazing contemporary routine featuring Jasmine and all-star Neil.  If you didn't see it, check out the video below:

At the end of the night, we said goodbye to Paul and Hayley, which is a little surprising since Paul has never been in the bottom. Still, they can't help but be proud of themselves and left with their heads held high. Now, it's down to Aaryn, Fik-Shun, Jasmine, and Amy. Who's going to take the title of winner home?
