Michael of The Bachelorette Season 9

Nobody likes the dreaded 2-on-1 date, not even The Bachelorette herself. This week, Michael and Ben were chosen as the unlucky duo to join Desiree in Munich, Germany. The guys in the house have been dying to see Ben go, but no one has gunned harder for him than Michael, the prosecutor from New York. Before leaving for the date, he admitted that he would do whatever it takes to expose him for the "fraud" that he is - and boy, was he not kidding!

The date started off with a hot tub boat ride, which would be just as awesome as it sounds, if it weren't for the uncomfortable conversation that took place as the trio jetted across the frigid lake. Michael grilled Ben about whether or not he had talked to his son since arriving in Germany, then compared the situation to his own, growing up with an absent father. While Des smiled nervously, Ben did his best to keep his emotions under control, feeling if he blew up, it would certainly end his relationship with Des.

Things didn't improve over dinner, when Michael called out Ben for saying he's religious and yet, didn't go to church with any of the guys over the Easter weekend. He's also grilled about why he doesn't get along with anyone in the house, and Michael takes his final shot when he points out that Ben didn't even call his son over the holiday. That would be enough for anyone to lose it, but Ben calmly excuses himself and paces around outside while Des tells Michael what he already knows: he's gone too far.

Faced with a tough decision, Desiree brings the two men back together at the dinner table to announce who she'll be giving the rose to. I was sure she'd send them both packing and banish them to an awkward limo ride back to the airport, but she turned and handed the rose to Michael! Ben can't believe it and storms around outside, convinced that she's made a mistake. There's no talking it out, no classy goodbye. Ben just wants to know where he can go get drunk. Perhaps the guys were right about him after all.

In other news, it took a plane trip to Europe for Bryden to realize that Desiree really wasn't for him. Instead of just telling her on the group date that he would've been invited on, he interrupts her 1-on-1 with Chris to announce he's going home. Considering he was a fan favorite early on, and seemed like a good match for Desiree initially, it's disappointing how he went out. Mikey was also eliminated, at the rose ceremony, and though he seemed surprised, I think we all saw that coming a mile away.
