Later this month, Desiree Hartsock will embark on a journey to find love after things ended with The Bachelor's Sean Lowe following a hometown date gone wrong. The newest Bachelorette will move into a Malibu estate and, with the help of hos Christ Harrison, narrow down 25 eligible men to just one by the end of the season. Whether or not Desiree's story will have a happy ending remains to be seen later this summer but judging by her reaction in this week's press conference call, it doesn't seem too promising.
When asked directly if she was now happily engaged, Desiree cautiously answered by saying, "You know, this journey was incredibly emotional and it was really surprising throughout so unfortunately, I can't comment on that at this time." She went on to say, though, that she was happy with both her decision to do the show as well as the decisions she made throughout her experience. "I followed and trusted my heart the best I could," she said.
Still, some reporters couldn't help but notice that Desiree not only didn't sound like her usual, positive self, but didn't seem nearly as excited and giddy as previous Bachelors or Bachelorettes before their season premieres. USA Today asked if she ended the season happy but all Desiree would say was, "I can't say at this time."
It's possible that ABC is trying to keep a tight lid on finale spoilers, and hoping to throw people off by giving the impression Desiree ends the season where she started: single. However, it's not totally out of the realm of possibility that she won't choose anyone in the end either. Both Brad Womack and Jenn Scheft opted out of their relationships on their respective season finales. Care to make any predictions? The season gets underway a week from Monday on ABC!
The Bachelorette premieres Monday, May 27, at 8/7c on ABC.
