The Voice Season 4

by Jessica Blackwell

And the battles continue! Tonight the judges had to make some hard choices between some really good singers. Here are the best performances from the night:

Jessica vs. Vedo

These two were Usher's first pairing of the night. Both contestants had a lot at stake - Vedo's mom died of terminal cancer shortly after the Blind Auditions and Jessica's husband is making all types of sacrifices so she can pursue her music career. Usher chose "Locked Out of Heaven" for them to sing. In rehearsals, Vedo surprised Usher with the passion in his voice and Jessica felt like she had to catch up. They put on an amazing performance, but someone had to win the battle and Usher chose to move on with Vedo. Despite having put so much at stake by quitting her job, Jessica took the news very well, calling Vedo amazing and wishing him the best. A true class act!

Luke vs. Monique

This duo got some really good advice from their coaches prior to their performance and it really paid off. Shakira chose Lady Gaga's "You&I" and the unlikely pairing rocked it! Monique was expected to do well, but Luke really surprised the judges with his soulful performance. Shakira had a tough choice to make, but chose to be strategic and keep Monique, knowing that since the guys raved about Luke, they would steal him. She was right, and Luke will be continuing onto the competition with Team Blake.

C. Perkins vs. Kris

Singing one of my favorite ballads "It Will Rain" by Bruno Mars, these guys had to figure out how to bring their unique singing styles together. They were really able to harmonize well together during their performance and sounded great. In the end, Chris's falsetto won Shakira over and she picked him as the winner of the battle. C. Perkins almost had to do the walk of shame off the set, but when he went to give Usher a goodbye hug, Usher pushed his button!

Orlando vs. Ryan

Usher gave these guys a difficult task when he assigned them to sing "Ain't No Sunshine" by Bill Withers but man, did they rise to the occasion!! This was the best performance of the night!! Usher had a hard choice to make, but he chose Ryan. Orlando was saved by the buzzer when Adam chose to steal him.

Tomorrow is the last round of battles, and it looks like it's going to be a good one! Stay tuned!

The Voice airs Mondays at 8pm, EST on NBC.
