The Gota tribe on Survivor Caramoan

by Gina Scarpa

It appears the Gota tribe is at a crossroads on Survivor: Caramoan after having voted out Allie and Hope. Reynold and Eddie remain, but are on the wrong side of the line drawn in the sand. The majority wants to vote them out next but come on, they need them to try to win some challenges. It's not smart to vote out strong players early on. You vote out the weak and deal with the ones that helped you get further along when the time is right.

The tribes compete in separate reward and immunity challenges this week, giving the fans a chance to start picking up some real momentum. On the line for the reward challenge is a visit to their camp by a local bushman who can give them shelter and cooking tips. Tribe members must make their way across the water on planks, then climb atop a small platform and stand there for five seconds. It literally comes down to the very end, but the favorites win again. Clearly, Shamar wasn't listening because he started celebrating in the water when Special Agent Shepherd rained on his parade and announced, "WE won." Oh.

Back at the Bikal camp, Tata the bushman shows the tribe how to use bamboo to better cook rice, fixed up their shelter a bit, and stole some kisses from the ladies before heading home. Tata knows what's up. Over at Gota, Shamar appears to have suffered an eye injury and won't come out of the shelter. He's also negotiated some kind of deal where people serve him rice once a day. Why is anyone putting up with this?! Despite the fact that no one believed Shamar about his eye, the medical staff does and comes in by boat, along with Jeff, to check on him. They determine that his vision is in jeopardy enough to pull him from the game and Reynold gets his wish - Shamar is out.

In the immunity challenge, tribe members swim out to a platform, jump off of it, and smash a tile, and retrieve a key. Those keys open a chest of sandbags, which one team member has to use to knock over a series of blocks. The favorites get off to a fantastic lead, but when it comes to catching up, Reynold should win some kind of award. He gets to the very last few blocks but Phillip is able to pull of a win, and I'm still shocked that the guy who was made to look like a bumbling idiot on Redemption Island is top dog this season.

Eddie and Reynold know their backs are against the wall so they go after Laura, who was literally out of breath just opening locks during the challenge. At tribal council, Eddie outright admits that Sherri and Laura are weak links (hey dummy, you need Sherri's vote!) and Reynold decides to play the idol. Just when you think Eddie's the next one out, the Gota tribe decides to make a run at some challenges and bounces Laura instead. Is there any reconciling for this group or is all hell going to break loose at the merge?

Speaking of all hell breaking loose, it appears Brandon puts his uncle to shame on next week's episode when he destroys the food and shelter at the Bikal camp. This should be one for the Survivor history books!
