Dustin and Frank on The Challenge Battle of the Seasons

by Gina Scarpa

It appears San Diego is ready to move on from its massive team meltdown on The Challenge: Battle of the Seasons. They're now getting together and exercising each morning, then going around in a circle and saying one thing they like, and one thing they don't, about each person. Apparently, the honesty is helping them become closer but with Frank in the mix, we'll see how long that lasts.

This week's challenge is called Abandon Ship and one at a time, team members must dive down to retrieve buoys that are anywhere from 5 to 25 feet below the surface. Once all four buoys are up, they use an inflatable raft to paddle to the finish line. Vegas feels like this challenge was made for them, but quickly realize they're in trouble when Trishelle gets in the water and panics. Instead of encouraging her or telling her to take some deep breaths and calm down, Alton and Dustin demand that she dive down immediately. Of course, that doesn't help and she's not able to, so they lay into her for the rest of their time in the water.

Robb struggles as well, and Marie finally has to dive in to help him. I mean, chain smoking and deep sea diving don't exactly go hand in hand. Cancun gets their raft inflated first but with only two people on their team, it's not long before San Diego is able to blow past them. They end up reaching the finish line first, followed by Brooklyn, then Cancun, and Vegas making it in just before elimination. That means St. Thomas is definitely heading in. Afterwards, Alton tells Trishelle that a real woman would have at least been quiet and listened to her men. He must be under the impression that A) it's 1954 and B) Trishelle is the kind of woman who "listens to her man". Should she make you a sandwich too while she's at it, Alton?

Knowing that with San Diego in power, Vegas is definitely going in, Nany starts with people in the house out of frustration. She particularly goes after Derek, who she felt was genuinely her friend outside of the game, but has barely talked to her the entire time in Turkey. This prompts Frank to jump in so now it's two on one. Marie runs over to defend Nany, Robb gets pushed somewhere in all of this, and then Marie runs over to get his back but ends up knocking down Sam. Robb literally has to drag Marie away, up to her room, and get her away from everyone before she gets them sent home.

Frank, Nany and Trishelle try to talk things out in the cabana but he's clearly not willing to be mature. In fact, for seemingly no reason, he brings up the fact that Nany's sister has a substance abuse problem, and plays his good ol' Dustin did porn card. For a minute, it seemed like Dustin might lay him out but Vegas ends up just laughing at Frank's over the top behavior and Zach manhandles Frank and drags him away, putting an end to this ridiculous brawl. Somehow, miraculously, the night ends without anybody leaving.

Based on her performance in Abandon Ship, Alton and Dustin want Trishelle to go into the elimination round, but the problem is that Alton is fed up and wants to just go home. Therefore, she refuses to volunteer to go in with him so Nany ends up stepping up instead. In the endurance challenge, Balls Out, Marie and Robb take round one, Nany and Alton take round two by just one ball, and then St. Thomas pulls off a close win in the end. If looks could kill, Dustin would have Trishelle six feet under right now. How these two are going to come together and work as a team is beyond me.
