Team Brooklyn on The Challenge Battle Of The Seasons

by Gina Scarpa

After weeks of being targeted for elimination on The Challenge: Battle of the Seasons, Brooklyn is stepping up their social game in the hopes of winning teams over. They host a home version of the Insane Games (from the previous episode) and there is a lot of laughter and bonding going on in the house. I would say that I'm hopeful we're moving past immature drama but in actuality, we're about to see it go to a whole new level.

This week's challenge is "Logged Out" and TJ warns that if a team can't make it past this, they'll never complete the final. Teams must make their way up a mountain, stopping at three checkpoints. At the first is an answer key, at the second is puzzle pieces, and at the third is an area to solve the puzzle. Because the distance between the checkpoints is far, and because the logs are so heavy, two person teams are definitely at a disadvantage going in.

Teams definitely struggle with trying to remember the very complicated patterns for the puzzle pieces. Dustin tries making strange hand signals to keep them in mind, while Marie finds herself totally lost. To complicate things, there are more logs with patterns on them than are needed to complete the puzzle. Cancun didn't realize there were more and had to make extra trips to get the pieces the needed, while Brooklyn came up with a brilliant idea to assemble their puzzle at the second checkpoint before lugging everything up the mountain.

That trip up the mountain proves to be tough for many people, but really takes a toll on Sam, which Zach and Frank do not appreciate. They both yell at her to keep going but Frank takes it to a whole new level, cursing her out, calling her fat (what?!), and saying if she doesn't make it through this, she's going home. Brooklyn ends up finishing first, FINALLY becoming the power team, with Cancun behind them. After that, it's Vegas, San Diego, St. Thomas, and New Orleans in last.

Back at the house, Brooklyn decides that San Diego will definitely go in against New Orleans, since they are a major component in the superalliance and have been targeting them for weeks. Once San Diego realizes they're going in to compete in a mental challenge, Zach confronts Frank about going in to the elimination round. Prior to the game even starting, Zach agreed to go in for physical or endurance, and Frank agreed to go in for mental or strategic. Of course, Frank is backing out now, almost bringing the two to blows. He tells Sam that the guys can't decide because no one wants to go in an elimination round with her, then later tries to cheer her up when he finds her crying and packing her things. He wants to blame everything on the game and his intensity but the truth is, he's just making excuses to justify his awful behavior.

At the elimination challenge, neither guy from San Diego will step up so Brooklyn sends Zach in to compete in "Water Torture". The communication between Sam and Zach isn't great but she yells at him to push hard and get them the win that they so desperately win. Knight and Jemmye work together better but she's not able to get as high as she needs to in order to finish her puzzle and they end up losing. Once the victory horn sounds, Zach flips off Frank and throw a few choice words his way. Is anyone expecting San Diego to come back together and act like a real team after this?
