Big Brother 14: Week 8 Power of Veto Recap

Big Brother 14

I'm pretty sure you couldn't script a better season for Dan than the one he just happens to be enjoying right now on Big Brother. Even though he orchestrated Britney's blindside, he's not taking any heat for it. Frank and Jenn are sitting on the block and Frank is even suggesting that if Dan wins the veto, to take down Jenn and leave him up for eviction. Dan's reaction: Um... okay! Frank may be a beast physically but his serious downfall is that he trusts people way too easily. He's better off being alone in the game, seriously.

Otev returns to the Big Brother house, this time in alien form, for the veto competition. Everyone is chosen except Shane to play. The ever yelling chef Joe could not be happier that his name was pulled, considering Ian told him straight up that he'll be the replacement nominee if either Frank or Jenn win. Otev asked questions about eliminated houseguests and players had to race through a field to retrieve ears of corn with the correct answer. The last person in each round to return would be eliminated. Danielle went out first, followed by Ian, who wasn't trying very hard. Joe was next to go, and then Jenn, who actually turned in a decent performance.

Again, you just can't script this stuff. Dan and Frank are left to compete for power and Frank can't seem to decide if he wants to win it for himself or put his faith in Dan. (He smartly stuck with his first plan.) Dan wasn't sure of the final answer and grabbed a corn, hoping he was right and what do you know? He was! After doing a little victory dance for the cameras and proclaiming he was officially back, he pays a little visit to Ian. First, they talk about Ian's OCD, which explains all the rocking I see him doing in the hammock on the live feeds. (Can I just say I love the kid? I really want him to be the last one standing in a few short weeks.) Dan then cuts right to game talk. He inceptions an idea that he should take Jenn off the block and Ian somehow feels he thought of it. Then, he meets up with Jenn and let her know he would return the favor for saving him last week and of course, she's grateful for the gesture. I'm still shaking my head at this master manipulator.

At the veto ceremony, everything goes exactly as expected. Dan pulls Jenn from the block, and Ian names Joe as the replacement nominee. I feel like that's Joe's job this summer - just sit next to other people who are going to get voted out, buddy. I'm hoping another silent speech is in our future at the eviction ceremony.

Last but not least, how ridiculous was Ian pretending to be mad at Dan? "You continue to stir the pot and you're playing with fire." Who is buying this?! Oh wait, everybody.

Find out who is evicted from the Big Brother house, Thursday at 9/8c on CBS.
