Big Brother 14: Week 2 Power of Veto Recap

Big Brother 14

I have a hard time not blaming Britney for the position Shane and Jojo are currently in on Big Brother. In her overly paranoid state, she ran to Willie about the possibility of the coaches coming back into the game, which set the ball in motion for his fall from grace as the HOH and untimely exit from the house. Now, the remaining two are the obvious candidates to nominate as Frank's redemption and reign in the house continues.

One site touts Frank as a possible fan favorite but I don't see it at all. In fact, I think I'd take Wilie any day over him. Frank walks around the house with a holier-than-thou attitude and lectures people when he doesn't like their behavior. Plus, he's clearly under the impression that he's part of Chilltown 2.0 but Boogie will say and do whatever it takes to get himself further in the game. That's what makes him such a great social player.

Not surprisingly, Shane and Jojo are on the block and when players are picked for the veto, it's Ian, Wil, and Ashley who are chosen to compete. That doesn't sit well with Danielle, who will undoubtedly be the replacement nominee if one of Brit's players can take themselves off the block. For the POV competition, players dress up as tortilla chips and retrieve menu items from pools of salsa, guacamole, and bean dip. They must match their menu to a master menu across the yard.

I can't quite understand Ashley's strategy but then again, I don't understand three quarters of the things Ashley said. (You should've heard her earlier when she said her perfect man love to eat, loves playing Monopoly, loves looking at the stars, loves to sleep, and so on...) Ian has practically a photographic memory but never underestimate the power of someone who has their back against the wall in the game. Everyone got their menus right, with the exception of Ashley, but Shane finishes first and wins the POV. Britney celebrates by diving head first into the guac and jumping on top of him.

Perhaps Frank should've heeded Boogie's advice earlier which was to bring Shane in, make him feel like everything is okay, and get him on his side JUST IN CASE he won POV. I'm starting to think Boogie has telepathic powers. Still, Shane makes his way to the HOH room and strikes a deal with Frank, but the condition is that he's not allowed to tell anyone in the house that they're working together.

Dan leaves Danielle completely out in the cold, refusing to campaign for her not to become the replacement nominee. He says in his interview that this is his coaching technique but by the look on Danielle's face, it's not working. Alone with Shane, she asks how he's voting and when he says he doesn't know, she looks like her whole life is over. I'm not quite seeing the desire to be here and Dan shouldn't have to play the game for her!

Danielle cries to the cameras about how alone she feels but Shane puts himself out there to Frank and asks him to backdoor Wil, feeling that he's a big threat in the game that will be tough to get out later. If he puts Wil up, Shane promises protection if he, Jojo, or Danielle win HOH. At the veto ceremony, Shane obviously uses the power of himself and Frank decides not to rock the boat and puts Danielle up in his place. Will Dan and Danielle walk out the door together on Thursday night or will Britney be down to Shane as her only hope in the game?
