The Glee Project Season 2

by Gina Scarpa

This week's theme on The Glee Project is Fearlessness (What? No word that ends in -ability?) and things kick off with a homework assignment that definitely puts fear in most of the group. They have to not only perform Heavy D's "Now That We Found Love" but do so for Glee superstar Jane Lynch!

If you ask me, nobody seemed to take the homework assignment seriously enough. The performance came out a little silly, Nellie forgot the words, and the boys fell a little flat. Fortunately, there was Aylin and Lily, who stole the show and won over Jane. Lily ends up being declared the winner, perhaps because Aylin won the week before.

The video shoot is a mashup of Pat Benatar's "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" and Blondie's "One Way Or Another" and the contestants will be getting hit in the face with... you guessed it... slushies! If they can survive this week, they've truly been initiated into the Glee family! There's no choreography because the concept is a swim team having a slushie fight so it's off to the studio with Nikki.

Nellie and Abraham do well with the vocals, but Michael is back to struggling. Then, there's Charlie, who always seems more distracted by everything around him than the task at hand. How many more chances does this kid get?

Speaking of, at the video shoot, Charlie's lip syncing is off and Aylin can't seem to stay serious for more than two seconds. Lily is super confident in herself and owns the shoot. Ali begs to have slushies thrown in her face, then breaks down crying when they are, but she recovers quickly, impressing everyone around her.

Right before the final three are announced, Aylin and Charlie cuddle up in a corner and share a few kisses as they talk about how much they'll miss each other if one of them goes. Not feelin' confident this week, are we?

Lily and Ali are the first to be told by Robert that they're called back for next week, followed by Shanna, Blake, and Abraham. Michael escapes having to perform for Ryan with that task going to Nellie, Aylin, and Charlie.

Aylin - "Take A Bow" by Rhianna
This is definitely my favorite last chance performance to ever take place on The Glee Project. I'm not Aylin's biggest fan but she's got a lot going on and she is sassy as hell. Ryan reminds her that she has a big responsibility, given that she'd be the first Muslim on Glee. There's no chance she's going anywhere this week so hopefully, she's able to take his feedback.

Charlie - "It's Not Unusual" by Tom Jones
There's no need for an explanation as to why Charlie is there and he proves why in his last chance performance. He runs around the stage, jumps into the audience, changes the words... I'm not sure it's possible for him to just do something the way it should be. He sounded great and his unpredictability could make him really interesting to watch but seriously, dude. Moderation.

Nellie - "If I Were A Boy" by Beyonce
That's a big song by a big artist for a girl who can barely make eye contact with people without feeling embarrassed. However, she really delivers and even brings tears to some of the mentors' eyes. Zach tells her that he's sick of saying how great she is. Fair enough. He's not there to be her psychologist. She needs to get over her insecurities and start fighting. Now.

When the callback list is put up, Charlie has run out of chances and is eliminated from the competition. I'm not sure he wanted it as much as the rest. He seemed more focused on his relationship with Aylin than breaking into the television business.
