The Real World: St. Thomas

by Gina Scarpa

It's day two in The Real World house and the roomies are starting to feel comfortable around one another - well, with one exception. It's bad enough that Brandon is already feeling like people are pairing off and leaving him out, but then Trey reveals that he read his journal without his permission. Now, Trey claims that he didn't know what it was when he opened it but didn't the words BRANDON'S JOURNAL on the front of it give him a clue?!

It's clear that Laura likes Trey and by clear, I mean REALLY clear. He's still pretty unclear as to what his feelings are. She's a tomboy... and he doesn't really go for tomboys... and he has a girl back home... but she's throwing herself at him so... ah, what the hell? The two have a little makeout session on a ferris wheel and then show their dance moves to one another at a club.

Meanwhile, Swift is up on LaToya, Marie is up on Robb, and Brandon has found himself a pretty hot girl at the club. It seems to be going fine and well until some random guy tells Brandon to be careful of the girl he's with. That sends B to Level 10 Rage and he takes it out on a poor street sign on the way home.

Marie finds a cute guy named Max who's in St. Thomas for a vacation, while Robb picks up Mollie, a bartender on the island. Marie wastes no time jumping into bed with a guy she hardly knows while Robb just does a little flirting here and there, but that's about as far as it goes. Eventually, the roommates just decide to ditch their counterparts and go on a date(?) with one another. It seems we're just an episode or two away from a major hookup.

Brandon finds the hot girl in the club a few nights later and is totally convinced he's going to bring her home, despite his roommates warning him not to count his chickens before they hatch. When she turns him down (as we could have predicted a girl like that would), he is seriously pissed and gives a speech on the boat ride home about not having a heart or a soul. Lighten up, dude.

One thing I want to point out, that has nothing to do with anything but is worth mentioning, is Robb's alter ego Captain Red Bush. He paraded around the house with Trey's character, Big Shirley, and then played a game called Weiner Taps, which is exactly what it sounds like. It's worth watching the episode just for that ridiculousness.

Anyway, Trey is pissed at Laura. Why, you ask? Because she's sweet and she likes him. He doesn't want sweet, dammit! He's had a rough upbringing, with his dad being in and out of jail, and has a hard exterior. Still, he lets her cuddle up to him. Oh man, there's nothing a girl like Laura will fall in love with faster than a guy who needs to be put back together. This feels like a recipe for disaster.
