The Bachelorette Season 8

by Gina Scarpa

Last week on The Bachelorette, kindhearted Emily couldn't bear to send anyone home at the rose ceremony - well now, two guys will have to be eliminated before the rest can make it to hometown dates. The pressure's on in Prague and no one is feelin' it more than Chris. But more on that later!

The first one on one date goes to Arie and the show has been hyping this episode for weeks. After the two make out in the streets of the Czech Republic, Chris Harrison comes on screen to let us know that there's something we may have heard about that is now going to be fully addressed. Arie dated one of the show's producers... briefly... over 10 years ago... and didn't tell Emily. I'll admit, it's a little weird. Emily has talked about Cassie in front of Arie, and he felt no need to mention that he ever knew her, never mind dated her. In the end, it all worked out. She apologized for being so hard on him about it, he declared his love for her, and they kissed some more. He's not going anywhere.

John is on deck next and it's seriously "do or die" time for this guy. There's no chemistry going on, which is further proved as they go through the motions on this date. They hold hands, write messages of love on the John Lennon wall, and have trouble placing a lock on the Love Fence. Yes, that's a real thing and yes, that's not a good sign. I'm amazed he made it through the date without Emily sending him packing but she is enjoying that he's opening up to her a bit. We find out that he has walls up because his last girlfriend cheated on him.

The group date card is written to Sean, Doug, and Chris. Chris is so upset that he looks like he may jump out a window, while Sean takes matters into his own hands and runs screaming through the streets of Prague (literally) looking for. He finally tracks her down (ah, the magic of production) and the two share a romantic, late night rendezvous.

The next day, the foursome head to an old castle where they played hide and seek and then spent a little one on one time each with Emily. Doug just sits, arms folded and closed off, and she's had enough. She walks him outside, asks him why he wouldn't kiss her, and then when he does, she rejects him and sends him home. Ouch! The only date rose to be handed out on this episode is given to Sean and Chris has now reached complete meltdown mode. Dude, take it easy. You've hardly spent time with her since your one on one in Charlotte all those weeks ago.

The final one on one is with Jef and the two go to the creepiest marionette shop I've ever seen. They pick out two that remind them of themselves, then he runs back in to grab one for Ricki. No! Don't give her nightmares! At an amazing library, the pair act out their relationship to date via the marionettes, which actually ends up being cute and funny. They have a real talk about what life will be like once the show is over and their connection feels the most sincere, with the most potential to last. Who would've thought?

There will be no cocktail party this week, as Emily feels she's made up her mind. Whether or not that's to send home Chris remains to be seen. Roses are handed to Jef and Arie, then Chris starts shaking and asks to talk to Emily outside. He lets her know that he's the best man for her and apologizes for acting immature this week. That's enough for her and John is sent packing - though I think that's what would've happened anyway.

Dude, if Chris is eliminated next week after hometowns, is anyone else as scared as I am?
