Dancing With the Stars Season 14

by Kylene Hamulak

With just two weeks before the finale, every Dancing With the Stars elimination from this point on is going to hurt. This one, in fact, is going to hurt double, as two dancers will be eliminated leading into the semi-finals.

The Trio Dances introduced this season were quite a hit, so to start off the show, we have an encore performance from Donald, Peta and Karina, dancing the jive. I could be wrong, but I think his frog-jump over the ladies was even higher tonight!

Getting right into results, we recap with Donald and Peta (who I'm pretty sure Donald called "Pee Pee") and, unsurprisingly, Donald continues to be hung up on the fact that he can't get a perfect score. (I agree, Donald - I even wrote about it in my recap!)

Katherine's rogue pant leg is still a topic of discussion, as were her perfect 10's. (To which she reacted with flapping and exclamations of "HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?!" I'll tell ya how it happened, kid - you brought Tristan back. And you didn't dance too badly, either.)

In a sign of things to come, the first results reveal that Donald and Peta are safe, while Katherine and Mark are in jeopardy. Which means I have to be nervous for the entire show only to have them make it through in the last ten minutes. I (hope I) know how this works. Darn you, dramatic results shows!

To break the tension, Dancing With the Stars brings back Kenny Mayne for some comic relief. We first meet up with him in the commissary, where he gives up seats saved for Len and Jerry Rice to the lovely (and scantily clad) dancers. He then teams with Jerry and Len for DanceCenter's analysis of our final six dancers, starting with Katherine, Roshon, and William.

First up: Katherine, "the Welsh Wiggler". Len notes what a terrific dancer she is, while Kenny points out that she's obsessed with her "naughty bits". Gotta agree with him on that, she did mention them quite a lot this season.

Roshon is next, and Len tells us he likes that Roshon is a "tryer". Kenny, hits a little harder, comparing Roshon to a "young Barack Obama." The only difference? "Barack Obama has a decent chance of winning this year."

What do they have to say about William "Dreamboat" Levy? Len thinks he's got great looks and great dancing, though he needs to really focus.

Kenny says he might be the hottest guy to ever be on the show, which prompts Len to share an uncomfortably awkward video of himself. Running. In slow motion. And a Speedo. We can file that under "things I never needed to see in my lifetime."

If anyone is going to knock that image right out of my head, maybe Chris Brown can do it. He's about to hit the dance floor (and hopefully nothing else.) With all the lasers and the catwalks and the production elements, it looks more like a Superbowl Halftime extravaganza than an episode of Dancing With the Stars.

After a commercial break, Katherine tells us she's petrified and Mark says he thought the comments were a little harsh. Roshon is very proud, but "it is what it is." William hopes the fans are stilling giving them their love, even though they had a perfect score. I think they probably are.

Recaps from last night reveal that William was in shock after his perfect scores and Roshon's granny is sure he's going to make it through. And then, just like that, Tom announces that Roshon and Chelsie are eliminated, while William and Cheryl made it through to the semi-finals.

Well then. Remind me not to trust Roshon's granny anymore.

Checking back in at DanceCenter, Kenny gives a very accurate depiction of Maria: she's Greek, she kisses Derek more often than we're comfortable with, and her bones are brittle. Clearly, he's used my recaps in his research. Len compliments her form and all that goodness, but come on - this isn't about how great she looks when she dances. This is about how crazy she sounds when she laughs.

Melissa is up next, and Len calls her the come back kid, though Kenny thinks she's hanging by a thread. He talks a little bit about her old back injury and points out that her x-rays reveal a miniature long-horn steer lodged in her back, suggesting that may be why she cries so much. It's an interesting theory.

Lastly we look at Donald, whom Len is a big fan of, though he thinks Peta needs to push him a little more. Jerry Rice? He's mostly a big fan of Peta. And her choice of wardrobe. We're then treated to a montage of Donald falling down. A lot.

Dick Clark is honored in the next segment, the Macy's Stars of Dance tribute to American Bandstand. It starts out black and white before moving into color, and the joint is really hoppin'. (You can say things like that when you're at a sock hop, you know.) After a commercial break, Dmitry and Anya give us a preview of the Dancing With the Stars stage show in Vegas, performing to "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow."

So, as time is running out, we've got one last set of dancing pairs to check in with before final results. We learn that Derek sort of expected to be slammed for the Bollywood routine, but he didn't think it was going to merit a 7 from Len, who was still muttering about it not being a samba. Melissa seems pretty satisfied with her Chmerkovskiy sandwich. When the results are in, Maria and Derek learn they're safe, while Melissa and Maks join Katherine and Mark in the bottom two.

As much as I hate to ever lose a Chmerkovskiy, I'm relieved when Katherine and Mark are declared safe. Melissa and Maks have been

eliminated.

So that's it - just one week stands between our ballroom couples and the season finale, and all four pairs have given exceptional performances. I think we're in for a fun couple of weeks ahead!
