Top Chef: Texas

We're down to the final three on Top Chef: Texas - Sarah, Lindsay, and Paul. They've arrived in Vancouver to meet up with Padma and Emeril for an Asian inspired Quickfire. Top Chef Masters Anita Lo, Floyd Cardoz, Takashi Yagihashi are paired up with the cheftestants and will have to switch off cooking during a 40 minute period to complete their dish. Going into the challenge, Sarah says that she's not very strong at Asian cuisine but she and Floyd end up working so well together, that she wins the challenge and $20,000.

For the last Elimination Challenge before the finale, the chefs will have to throw a "Fire and Ice" themed cocktail party for 150 guests. Each dish has to have a hold and cold element. Lindsay gets to work on halibut, perhaps as a way to prove once and for all that she knows how to make a great dish out of it after Restaurant Wars. Sarah attempts a pasta dish, while Paul prepares king crab. They also have to make a cocktail to go with their dish, which makes some more uncomfortable than others.

At the party, the judges are happy with the combination of Paul's fire and ice components but then things sort of melt together and their enthusiasm dies out a bit. Tom gets annoyed at an arugula garnish. If you're going to put arugula on the dish, use it for goodness sake! Tom Colicchio has spoken!

Paul will most likely get a reprieve though because while Sarah's pasta went over well, the mousse on top was frozen and made it difficult to eat. That's taking the cold component a bit too far. Lindsay has better luck the second time around this season with halibut - it was perfectly cooked and the tomato soup that went along with it was a hit.

After talking things over, the judges decide that they don't care about frozen items and let Sarah know first that she's moving on to the finale. Lindsay is eliminated, while Paul moves on to face Sarah in the last challenge of the season. Who are you rooting for?
