The Challenge: Battle of the Exes

by Gina Scarpa

On Battle of the Exes, there are different types of couples - you've got Johnny and Camila, who seem like they've been best friends for years and then you have CT and Diem, whose years of issues have them barely able to look at one another. During a rare trip out to the beach, Diem confides in others that she wishes things were different between her and her ex, while CT complains that she talks to everyone else about their issues except him.

Back at the house, the two finally sit down and decide that they'll try to improve their communication, if for nothing else but the money at the end of this competition. A drunken animal party exposes Robin's weak social game, as she parades around the house, dressed as a vampire, refusing to participate. I mean, just stay in your normal clothes then. There's no need for the Twilight getup.

In this week's competition, Rolling In The Deep, teams hang on to a log as it spins over a lagoon. When they drop into the water, they have to swim to shore and ring a bell. Tyrie and Jasmine go first and when he drops, he lands directly on top of her head in the water! I seriously thought she had a concussion but she recovers pretty quickly and just says she'll need some Advil later. Powerhouse couple Johnny and Camila end up pulling off another win - Paula and Dunbar can breathe a sigh of relief that it wasn't Ty and Emily, who came in second, and most definitely would've thrown them into The Dome.

Tyrie and Jasmine end up coming in last and Rachel, fearing that she and Aneesa may be thrown in against them, supposedly throw Mark and Robin under the bus. Everyone heads out to a club that night where, as you might expect, Mark confronts Rachel about her actions earlier. She denies the whole thing but it doesn't seem she's convincing anyone. Back at the house, Robin cries about how she doesn't like the lying and the politicking that it takes to win this game but Paula reminds her that it's more than just a physical competition - it's psychological and emotional too. Paula Walnuts: Voice of Reason??? I think so!

No surprise, Rachel and Aneesa are voted in by Johnny and Camila to The Dome. Their competition is one we saw in the first episode, that knocked Nate and Priscilla out. Players have to bend down and jump over moving beams without falling off. Aneesa hits the ground first, followed by Tyrie. Jaz has a height disadvantage and has to use a lot more energy to compete than Rachel does. She drops and the girls live to see another day.
