Ghost Hunters Season 8

"Flooded Souls"

Hales Bar Marina & Dam - Marion County, Tennessee

The dam was built in 1913 to serve to tame the local river and provide a source of energy and electricity to the town.  The land was taken from a tribe of Cherokee Indians and it is said that the Chief of the tribe put a curse on the water and land where people were moving into.  This may explain the large amount of deaths during the building of the dam, some actually died after being buried alive by the concrete that was being poured.  Many male apparitions have been spotted in and around the dam building.  The Spanish flu epidemic came through town and killed many children.  Reports of children's voices have been reported and it's logical to believe that the coat of death that came from the Spanish flu held these children captive to the land.  Both child and adult footsteps have been seen and heard and even the bravest prefer not to be around at night time. One last interesting item came from the result of the dam breaking in the 60's causing a local cemetery to flood and become a submerged grave yard.

TAPS co-founders Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson were the first to investigate the power house associated to the now closed dam.  They were constantly greeted by noises of people working, things banging, people walking, along with a screaming or whistling sound that was audible to the viewer.  At one point Grant believed he saw someone on one of the catwalks and not long after, Jason saw the same.  Britt Griffith joined Grant and Jason at the site of the flooded cemetery, which included a floating mausoleum....or at least that's what it looked like.  They didn't seem to have any paranormal experiences while they were in the area but it certainly was a site to see.

Amy Bruni and Adam Berry were the next to investigate the power house.   They too were greeted by multiple shadows.   Adam also caught a flash of light that he could not explain, something also reported by the caretakers.  A few loud bangs were followed by a shadow figure that Amy described as "running away from them."  A voice speaking a long sentence came out of nowhere but it was hard to understand what was being said.  It was at this point that Amy mentioned that places that are haunted, that they have investigated, seem to have a strange vibe to them and she was definitely feeling it in the powerhouse and did not seemed surprised by the activity they were experiencing.

Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango headed down to the tunnels of the power house where spirits are said to terrorize those who visit.  They didn't have any experiences that couldn't explain so they headed upstairs to the area where the rest of the team was having multiple paranormal occurrences.  Their experience was similar to the rest of the team, voices, loud sounds, and possibly something touching them both on the face.

One of the items the team mentioned was that, because of the amount of running water in the area, spiritual energy can manifest itself a little easier. TAPS believed that dam and powerhouse had plenty of paranormal activity occurring to consider it haunted, although they tend not to use the word haunted these days.
