Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 4

By Mike Bandy

Alright, let's be honest - we're all really sticking around this season to see what happens in Africa, right? Okay, well this isn't the episode where they get there, but it IS the episode right before that, so let's just get through it to get to that one, okay?

First, NeNe met up with Marlo at the latter's house, and we found that Marlo has an unnecessary security system and a closet full of expensive shoes and purses, one of which she offered to NeNe. NeNe believes the two of them are a great pair - they're the same height, they have the same tastes, and they both love money, but come on. NeNe likes Marlo because she's mean-spirited and will say what's really on her mind...just like her. I'd love to see the two of them have at it one of these days. I'm not sure who'd win!!

Anyway, over lunch, NeNe brought up going to Africa, and Marlo said there's no way she'd pass up a trip like that, so NeNe invited her to go with. Marlo agreed, and NeNe got that smug, satisfied look on her face. You know the one, where she knows she's stirring up drama and gets all happy about it. Ugh. Oh, and she's not telling the other ladies that Marlo is coming?! Fantastic!

The next thing I saw on the television made me super angry, and if you've ever struggled with weight, you know it made you angry too. I'm talking about the trials and tribulations that it takes to lose weight, or rather, how hard Kandi worked at it and how little Kim did for it. We switched back and forth between Kim, who had some sort of ungodly wrap procedure done by which she looked like a mummy and allegedly lost 10 inches in as many minutes, and Kandi, who, under the direction of a trainer, pushed around truck tires and nearly killed herself doing actual exercise. When all was said and done, Kandi was too tired to speak, and Kim wasn't even out of breath. Don't you just hate her?!

Next we saw Cynthia, which meant we also had to deal with Peter. Peter is not excited about Cynthia leaving for 10 days and moaning about it every chance he gets, but Cynthia, who three days before the trip was already packing, was looking forward to being apart from Peter, hoping that it would bring them closer together. Unfortunately, I don't think anything will bring them closer together, especially when Peter makes ignorant comments to the effect of Kim won't go to Africa because there's too many black people. What was that?!? Not cool.

Meanwhile, Phaedra prepped for the trip by telling Apollo all about Marlo and her mugshots, and making sure that he was ready to take care of Ayden, who's already walking! He's so precious...and I'm not even a kid person! That kid is the cutest thing ever.

NeNe and Marlo went shopping, and the highlights of that were that NeNe said she'd listen to what Kim has to say (?!?), that Sheree is mean-spirited (yeah, right), and that NeNe freaked out over spending $10,000 (but she somehow thought she could afford a $9 million dollar house). Nothing out of the ordinary here!

Well, the NFL lockout is over, and Kroy's gotta go back to work. He and Kim had one last night out, after which they returned home to find Sweetie nowhere near prepared for the surprise she was supposed to set up for them both. The whole thing looked ridiculous, but the night ended with the two of them sharing a bubble bath together - presumably after they kicked Kim's father out of the bathroom. Or at least, I hope so.

The next day, everybody was arriving at the airport to go to Africa, while Kroy said goodbye to the family to go to football camp for one month. It was a pretty bittersweet goodbye, and it was pretty obvious that nobody wanted Kroy to go...probably least of all Sweetie, who will now have to step up in his absence. The goodbye scene between Kim and Kroy in the driveway was almost heartfelt...until Kim managed to get herself locked out of the house. Come on, who else cackled when they saw that?!? Just me? Alright.

Meanwhile, back at the airport, all the ladies were arriving and waiting for each other, and NeNe was the last to show up. Phaedra tried to get everyone to head toward the plane, but NeNe said that Marlo was getting her stuff out of the car. When Marlo showed up and asked if everyone was happy to see her, the looks on Sheree's, Phaedra's and Kandi's faces were absolutely priceless. I've never seen people have their mouths hang open for so long. Either way, off they went toward the plane, and undoubtedly, the biggest drama of the season!

The next three episodes will show the ladies in Africa, and the preview for the trip looks like it's going to be an all out brawl. Who can wait?!? Do you guys think Marlo will cause a bunch of drama, or will NeNe be the catalyst, as usual? Will Cynthia grow a backbone on this trip? Maybe an elephant will trample them all and we won't have to worry about them ever again. What do you think?!
