Survivor: South Pacific

The final five on Survivor: South Pacific can smell the million dollars and at this point, friendships, alliances, and promises can all be broken for the chance to sit at that final tribal council and plead for votes. It seems like Albert and Sophie have been a duo for quite some time now but he's ready to take out what he perceives as the biggest threat in the game right now (because Ozzy's still chillin' on Redemption). He and Rick... who we're apparently now calling Cowboy... yeah, he has a nickname... and yeah, he's still in this game... have a final three deal with Coach so the next move they make is going to be very important.

I really think Survivor tries to tailor the challenges at Redemption so that Ozzy's opponent has a fair shot against him. From balancing to stamina to puzzles, each time it seems like Ozzy could be sent to Ponderosa and each time he comes out on top. Despite all of Upolu trying desperately to help Edna take him out, come on. Who are we kidding? The Challenge King comes through, smiles as he gives Edna a farewell hug, and struts proudly back to his "Pleasure Dome", as Sophie named it. Kind of a creepy name if you ask me.

On a side note, I'm pretty sure Ozzy sings "I Just Can't Wait To Be King" from The Lion King to himself every time he racks up another win.

Back at camp, Albert makes his case to Coach to get Sophie out. When Brandon walks up on their conversation and apparently acts like a bully, Coach has flashbacks to Heroes Vs. Villains with Uncle Russell and can't handle it. It looks like Coach is finally ready to turn on Brandon.

At the immunity challenge, players climb a steep wall and retrieve puzzle pieces. Their puzzle ultimately will reveal three numbers, which is used at the top of the wall to release a machete and cut their individual flag free. How Albert didn't end up carted off the hospital after falling repeatedly is beyond me. Rick was in it in the beginning but quickly fell out of it at the puzzle. It came down to Coach and Brandon but the young Hantz stormed up that wall, released his flag, and screamed "THANK YOU JESUS!" into the stratosphere. Time for Plan B, Coach.

So the obvious choice is to vote out Albert. He's sneaky, he scrambles, and he can't be trusted. There's just one problem. The bible taught Brandon about forgiveness so he offers to give Albert his immunity necklace. There's a different between forgiveness and sheer stupidity, buddy. This never goes well in the game of Survivor!

At tribal, Jeff barely gets two words out before Brandon announces his plan. Now, I REALLY feel like I'm in Wonderland and everything is backwards. You don't announce to everyone what you're going to do. You give necklaces and idols away when you want to blindside someone. Albert is asked if, as a sign of good faith, he'll give the necklace back to Brandon. No, he says. Brandon is safe. And I liked Albert up until this point...

Coach turns on Brandon and sends him to Redemption, undoubtedly to try to take out Ozzy since it's the last duel before someone re-enters the game. The Dragon Slayer may not fear many things, but I'm pretty sure Ozzy Lusth is one of them.
