Survivor: South Pacific

by Gina Scarpa

With all (loyal) members of Savaii out of the way on Survivor, the Upolu tribe members are going to have to turn on each other. If they're going to stay true to one another, then Cochran should go out 7th but he continues to try to weasel his way in to stay a few more days, saying he deserves it and his birthday is coming. If someone gives you a better shot at winning a million dollars for your birthday, you better kiss the ground they walk on! That's a heck of a gift.

At Redemption Island, the challenge is to balance and stack plates, a task that Ozzy doesn't have any distinct advantage at... but then again, this is Ozzy we're talking about. Dawn breaks concentration first and her plates go smashing to the ground, with Whitney following soon after. It's going to be very interesting to see if anyone is actually capable of taking down the King Of Individual Challenges. Yeah, I just bestowed that title upon him.

Back at camp, Edna recognizes that there's a very good chance that she's next so she starts complaining about Albert, saying that he doesn't do anything around camp. Albert, in turn, complains about Edna - not for any particular reason it seems, but somebody has to go later on. In his mind, why not her?

The immunity/reward challenge asks the Survivors to revisit the past. In the first round, players toss beanbags onto a box and Sophie, Albert, and Rick are the first to finish and move on. In the second round, they use slingshots to fire at targets and Albert knocks his down first. Besides the immunity necklace around his neck, he also gets to enjoy a massage and take someone with him. He chooses Coach, then gives up his own prize to Cochran. It seems generous and all but who can believe his shpeel about it being a birthday gift for Cochran? It seems that he's trying to get them out of the mix so some strategizing can take place.

Once they return to camp, Cochran goes to Edna and they team up to target Rick because he has apparently been calling Albert a "prince". HOW DARE HE!? I mean, at this point, these two are just grasping for straws to find somebody, ANYBODY, that can be a bigger target than they are. You don't vote Rick out, sillies. You take Rick to the end. What has he done all season besides get edited right out of this game?

At tribal, Cochran outright calls Brandon a bad strategist and no one seems to argue with that. Right before the votes, he poses a great question: What if Edna wins immunity next? Who are they voting out?

Well, they'll cross that bridge when they get to it. Right now, it's all about who they're voting out and who they're voting out is Cochran. Just like Savaii predicted - he goes out 7th. As he heads to Redemption to face the king, I'm sure he's asking himself: Was switching tribes and changing alliances really worth it?
