The Amazing Race 19

by Gina Scarpa

On tonight's Amazing Race, teams leave Malawi and travel 5,000 miles to Copenhagen, Denmark. Once they arrive there, they'll take a Ford Focus and head to Vor Frelsers Kirke belltower in search of their next clue.

Everyone boards the same plane with the exception of Laurence and Zac, who decide to break away and fly to London in the hopes of getting an earlier flight to Copenhagen - which they do! When it's time to find a connecting flight in Amsterdam, four teams continue on while Amani and Marcus make what might be a fatal mistake and decide not to find a quicker flight. Instead, they decide not to look for other teams and opt for a nap in the airport terminal.

Everyone (sans Amani and Marcus) catch up at the belltower and climb over 400 steps to find a flag and a banner. The words on both will help them realize that their next stop is Frederiksborg Slot, which is a castle. Jeremy and Sandy miss the word Frederiks on the banner, head to the wrong place, and soon find themselves face to face with Amani and Marcus.

Laurence and Zac arrive at the palace first, with Ernie and Cindy right on their heels, and encounter a Road Block. Teams must dress in period costumes and learn a complex dance routine. Routines are nothing new to The Amazing Race and have frustrated many a team member in seasons past.

The dances are pretty hilarious to watch and Ernie ends up finishing first! Cathi's coordination pays off and she finishes next, followed by Andy. As Zac struggles with the dance, his lead with Laurence becomes a distant memory...

From here, teams drive themselves to Frilandmusseet (Open-Air Museum) and find a Detour. Their choices are All Hopped Up or All Churned Out. In All Hopped Up, teams lead rabbits through an obstacle course without knocking anything over and in All Churned Out, teams have to make six sticks of high quality butter. I'd be all about those rabbits - they're adorable!

Turns out that the butter is the better choice as Ernie and Cindy make quick work of the churning. At the Double U-Turn, Cindy is determined to get a first place win so she sends Bill and Cathi back. They, in turn, decide to U-Turn Laurence and Zac, just to be safe and ensure another team is behind them.

Ernie and Cindy arrive the pit stop, located at Havet Ship at Larsens Plads, first and win a trip to Fiji.  Amazingly, Bill and Cathi finish both tasks before another team passes them and STILL arrive at the pit stop in second place!  Andy and Tommy arrive at the same time but are actually beaten out in footrace by the older, married couple!

Jeremy and Sandy drive around looking for the Detour, when she utters famous last words: "I know where we are."  Meanwhile, Amani and Marcus make quick work of All Hopped Up, while Laurence pouts over having to go back and complete the other side of the U-Turn.  Amani and Marcus arrive in fourth place, and amazingly, Jeremy and Sandy recover and finish in fifth.  Laurence and Zac get lost, hit traffic, and arrive last the pit stop.  Just like that, the race is over for the father and son team.  You never know what's going to happen on The Amazing Race, that's for sure...

Will you miss Laurence and Zac?  And what do you think of tonight's Double U-Turn decisions?
