Survivor: South Pacific

by Gina Scarpa

The minute tribal council ended on Survivor: South Pacific, the members of the Savaii tribe got in line to give Cochran a piece of their mind for turning on them. Ozzy gets a crack at him first and Brandon tries to step in to have his back but is sent away. Whitney is up next and tells Cochran she disgusts him, which is a bit harsh. You gotta love when people think they're running the show and then find out that they were just outwitted. Don't you just love Survivor?

In the immunity challenge, players must toss coconuts and land one in a ring. The first four to do so move onto the final round, where they break coconuts with a rock, take a swig of water from it, go through an obstacle course, and empty it into a tube. Making it to the final round are Dawn, Whitney, Jim, and Sophie. Whitney quickly falls out of it and while Sophie performs very well, Jim ends up winning individual immunity!

Back at camp, Ozzy approaches Coach and lets him know that he knows that his number is up and he basically accepts it.

Oh, so NOW Dawn considers flipping. Now that she knows that she has nowhere to go. No matter where she turns, she'll still be low man on the totem pole.

Jim has a gutsy plan to give Ozzy the necklace that he just fought to win and make a (hopefully) convincing case to send Cochran to Redemption Island. It might sound crazy but Jim has a point in saying that his days are numbered. If he doesn't go today, he'll go next time. The Savaii members are going to have to make big moves or just wait to be picked off one by one.

At tribal, Jim makes his speech but Coach jumps in and says that he's not going to let Cochran get sent out of the game. Ozzy points out that eventually, Upolu will have to turn on each other and promises to come back if he's voted out. Actually, what he said was that he'd feed them some nice fish and then send them on their way, which was awesome.

Jim's big move turns out to be all talk as he keeps his necklace safely around his neck and Ozzy is sent to Redemption Island.

That brings us to our next immunity challenge, where players have to stand on a beam and balance a ball on a bow. Probst throws out the old, "If you feel you're safe, sit out and eat" twist. The entire Upolu tribe and Cochran head for the pastries and iced coffee while only Dawn, Whitney, and Jim compete to stay in the game. When Jim goes out first, Brandon celebrates. Survivor is brutal sometimes. Dawn can't hang on anymore and Whitney wins immunity. Like it matters...

With his back against the wall, Jim approaches Albert and Sophie to blindside Edna but they have absolutely no plan to get on board. However, Albert is suspicious of Dawn and feels she's more dangerous that she seems so maybe Jim's game isn't over quite yet.

At the second tribal council of the night, Brandon calls out Dawn for contradicting herself.  At the challenge, Dawn said she was happy everyone got to eat but at tribal council, she said she couldn't believe they ate and that it was hard for her.  When Brandon says he won't rest until everyone on Savaii is gone except for Cochran, Whitney breaks down saying she's been vilified.

When the votes are read, Jim is the one to head to Redemption Island where he'll face off against Ozzy and Keith.  Now that's a challenge not to be missed!
