Robbie and DJ of Committed

by Gina Scarpa

Last season on The Sing Off, winners Committed established themselves as the frontrunners, starting with their very first performance, Maroon 5's "This Love". Today, we caught up with members Robbie and DJ in an exclusive interview to talk about their experiences on the show, their album, touring plans, and if we can see them on the new season of The Sing Off.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What initially made you decide to try out for The Sing Off?
A. DJ:
We didn't watch season 1 before. We went back and saw YouTube clips. One of the members went to a workshop and one of the guys recommended us to try out for the show. We thought if we learned some dance moves, we could win. Tommy came back to the group and asked if it was something we wanted to do. That was the beginning. On the show, we worked really hard.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You started out season 2 extremely strong and were frontrunners from the very beginning. Did you feel pressure to stay at the top throughout the competition?
A. Robbie: Definitely! People set a high bar, or expectation, for us because we did have a good first performance. Every episode after that, we were like, "Man, we have to do just as good, if not better." We practiced all the time.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Do you guys have a favorite performance from last season?
A. Robbie: My favorite performance was "Hold My Hand". It was a very emotional time for us, knowing that we had to say goodbye to everyone, our friends, the producers, the choreographers. But it was actually a happy time because we felt so blessed.
A. DJ: I think my favorite was our first one, "This Love" - all that nervous energy we had going into the show. We were blessed to have such a great response in the end. That was the most lively crowd we've ever sang in front of.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You recently released your album, "Committed". Do you have any plans to tour?
A. Robbie: We are definitely planning on touring. The album is out now, it came out August 29th. We're just really excited and we want to go back out there and show our love to supporters and voters.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: In season 3, Sara Bareilles is replacing Nicole Scherzinger. What are your thoughts on it?
A. Robbie: I am actually a really big fan of Sara Bareilles. I think she's a great fit for the show. She's very musically inclined and I think everyone will be able to realize that after the first show. Her comments are very technical and make a lot of sense. I'm excited. Nicole's a really nice person, she's very sweet. I think Sara is also a good fit.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Is there any chance we could see you perform on the show again?
A. DJ: Definitely! We'll be performing on the first show, on September 19th.
A. Robbie: We'll be on again closer to Halloween.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What have you been up to recently?
A. DJ: Just doing shows, interviews, promos, try to catch some sleep whenever you have the time!

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Is there anything you'd like to say to your fans, who not only supported you on the show, but since the finale as well?
A. DJ: Yeah, thank you so much for your support. We absolutely love you all and we can't thank you enough. We hope you continue to support us and we hope you enjoy the album. We worked really hard on it and we're pleased with the product.
