Flipping Out Season Five

by Chandra Clewley

Flipping Out starts tonight with Jeff Lewis and the General Contractor Randy that he fired in the last episode. They are having a point of contention about how much Randy is owed for the work he has finished. Jeff is certain that Randy will try to bill him for more than he actually accomplished.

Gage is always looking at new opportunities, so when he finds a new product that could be a Jeff Lewis line, a paint that is made outside of the country with no chemicals in it; Jeff is excited about the product. They have decided to try the paint out on Jeanne’s house as a guinea pig.  When Jeff shows Jeanne the colors she loves them and then he tells them that they are his! They try out the paint by actually doing a couple of walls themselves and everyone is really impressed with the paint.

Randy sends Jeff a ton of invoices, and nothing is matching. Jeff is getting really upset about it and both Jenni and Zoila tell him that Randy is trying to make him upset and he is falling into it. Jeff swears he is never getting the money.

Jeff and Gage have lunch with Jeff’s father Tom, who is also a great business consultant to Jeff and always has been. One bit of his advice: If you can find a business that can make money while you are sleeping, you are going to be okay. That is just one gem he gives, but as for the paint, he likes it but suggests that he do more research. As far as he is concerned, Tom thinks there is a lot of risk and a lot of money up front. He brings up great points, like how is Jeff going to market it, where is he going to sell it, and how much is he willing to put into the business itself? Jeff knows the reason he got where he is is because he takes a considerable amount of risk.

Because Randy was fired, the clients decide to pay a visit to the jobsite, so Jeff goes to the site, and makes sure it looks good for the visit. Later, Randy sends an email saying he is going to place a lien on the Spring Oak property, which would make it so the client couldn’t sell the home without paying Randy the $5000 he is owed. Jeff is angry because all he wanted was receipts and an explanation of where the money was going, and Randy is adamant he will not answer to Jeff.  Jeff has to file a complaint, and finds out from his father that Randy has little ground in this argument.  When the clients see the progress, they are really happy with it because of the work the new General Contractor has done.

In the end, Jeff isn’t happy with the results of the paint once he goes to see it on the walls at Jeanne’s place, and is sad and disappointed. The thing is, luck HAS to be on Jeff's side, because he can't even buy a lotto ticket without winning this entire episode!
