The Glee Project: Finale

by Gina Scarpa

The final theme for The Glee Project is "Glee-ality" (and to think I thought parability wasn't a word) and the homework assignment is, of course, "Don't Stop Believin". You may have been expecting Lea Michele or Cory Monteith to be the final judge but it's none other than Ryan Murphy himself, and he's not gonna go easy on them... so they think.

The minute they start the song, Ryan stops them and asks them if they worked on choreography. When they say "not really", he brings in a little help - all of the previous contestants that have been eliminated. Suddenly, the song sounds fuller and has a whole new energy to it.

There is no homework winner, because nobody should get an advantage going into the end of the competition. The video shoot, set to Pink's "Raise Your Glass", will take place on top of a 35-story skyscraper in downtown L.A., and then each member of the final four will do a last chance performance, where they can pick your own song.

At the shoot, the mentors discuss each of the final four, which raises some questions. Can Samuel get out of his head? Will Damian be the underdog that wins it all? Can Lindsay be likeable? Is Alex able to be consistently focused?

Afterwards, Lindsay chooses "Gimme Gimme" from the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie, Damian goes with "Beyond The Sea" by Bobby Darin, Samuel wants to sing "Joele" by Dolly Parton, and Alex decides on "I Am Changing" from the musical Dreamgirls. To add onto the pressure, former contestants and mentors will be watching the performance with Robert and Ryan, along with Glee's co-creator, Ian Brennan.

Dot-Marie liked Alex and Samuel, Darren Criss thought Lindsay would be a great addition to the show, Harry Shum was a fan of Samuel, Max Adler felt Alex goes with Glee so well, Nikki Anders pulled for Damian, and Erik White stressed that Lindsay was the best actor of the group.

Robert, Zach, Ryan, and Ian talked it all over and then, it was time for a decision. First, Alex is eliminated and then Lindsay.  Is this crazy or what?  Damian came close but in the end, indie rocker Sam takes the whole thing.  Oh wait, no.  Damian won, too!  It's a tie!  Lindsay and Alex aren't going home emptyhanded either though.  They're both getting two episode arcs.  Everybody wins... a little bit.  What are your thoughts?
