The Challenge: Rivals

by Gina Scarpa

Things kick off on this week's episode of The Challenge: Rivals with a devious plan called "D Day" to get rid of CT and Adam. What else is new? The guys decide that they'll have Evelyn and Paula make CT and Adam go first in the challenge. Then, all Kenny and Wes or Johnny and Tyler have to do is beat that time. Evan and Nehemiah will throw the challenge and DQ to ensure that they go in against CT and Adam and send them home. Ev says it's an absolutely stupid idea and I'm glad SOMEBODY is taking some sense!

The challenge is this week seems impossible - as a team, make your way across 12 hammocks, spread out 50 feet above the water. This is just asking for belly flops. Putting CT and Adam first doesn't seem to matter and they make their way across fairly quickly. Adam even pulls off a superhuman move going from hanging underneath the hammock, to flipping himself back around so they could continue. Ridiculous!

Every female team falls into the water, with the exception of Laurel and Cara Maria. Katelynn wouldn't even try and Tyler deems her the worst competitor he's ever met in his life. Kenny seems to be off his game and falls off on the first hammock, which throws off "D Day". Both Johnny and Tyler and Evan and Nehemiah make it across the course. No intentional DQ for them! Evan and Nehemiah would've won but were unintentionally DQ'd for touching three hammocks at once. Johnny and Tyler win by default and celebrate as if that wasn't the case. As Evan said, "you won on accident".

As you might guess, Kenny and Wes weren't about to go up against CT and Adam in the jungle. Their "D Day" plan basically means that somebody else does their dirty work. They turn their attention to Brandon and Ty, who try to turn the attention (unsuccessfully) on Leroy and Mike. In his room, Kenny lays in bed and mopes like a girl who just got dumped. Where's the guy who dominated challenges season after season? Someone give him a call and tell him to get to Costa Rica.

In the jungle, the challenge is simple. Jump into a pool of water and climb up a rope to the top. Both team members have to reach the top before a member of the opposing team makes it up. Wes and Brandon end up in a tie but by then, Brandon is done. He barely tries in the second round and Wes singlehandedly ensures that he and his rival/partner stay in the game.

Here's hoping Kenny gets his mojo back... and quick!
