The Real Housewives of New York City Season 4

by Mike Bandy

Last night's episode began with Ramona and Sonja, with Avery in tow, shopping for costumes at a burlesque shop, in preparation for a burlesque themed party she was having. Avery was invited to the party, which she declined to go to, and she also had to deal with Sonja trying to get her to try things on. Avery is 16. Okay, first...why bring a 16 year old to a burlesque shop? I just can't...and no child should EVER see their mother anywhere near assless chaps. Ever. I'm drafting legislation against it right now.

Next, we headed over to Grand Central, where Jill was catching a train to Bronxville to see her daughter at college. They were having lunch, and Ally was telling Jill about her classes, and she said that she's taking a sex course, where they talk about different theories of sexuality. She finds it very interesting, and says she wants to be a sex columnist, to which Jill the Pill plastered a fake smile on her face and said, "I just want you to be happy. Let's go shopping!"

Meanwhile, some other ladies were dealing with their children as well. LuAnn was teaching Veronica how to drive and becoming more frightened by the moment as she tore through the parking lot, and Ramona listened to Avery read a report about how Ramona is her role model, which brought her to tears. Yes, it's true - for a moment, Ramona was human. I know, I can't believe it either.

Chris March is back! He went to Sonja's house to talk with her about another costume that she wanted for her party. She danced around like a moron, and Chris watched her with a look of exasperation. Come on, he already lost Project Runway - Hasn't this poor man suffered enough? Ramona showed up so they could practice the routine that Sonja was going to perform at her party. The words seemed to be talking about the other women (she even referenced the Countess' song), but she meant it to be playful and witty. Uh huh...we'll see.

Meanwhile, Kelly and LuAnn met for a drink, and to go over Kelly's love life. LuAnn said that you always have to look for love, just to keep yourself open, though things happen a lot when you're not looking. She also said that when she was with the Count, she always felt like she fit in, even though she didn't come from royalty. I'm guessing that's probably because she's an entitled, self-important, you-know-what.

Speaking of people with way too much time on their hands, LuAnn's got another song, and she and Jill were the first to hear it! "Chic, c'est la vie" actually has a great beat, but LuAnn has absolutely no vocal ability, which is why she's basically talking through the entire song. It's rather dreadful. Next week, they're making a video for it, and I'm pretty certain that I'll gouge out my eyes when I see it.

It's the moment you've all been waiting for - Sonja's burlesque party! Everybody seemed to be having a good time, except that Jill still didn't want to have anything to do with Simon. He had a different idea, and as he approached her, she walked away from him..then he approached her again while she was talking to her husband, and then all three sat down together.

Simon said that she's been a great help to him in the past, and he knows she has a fantastic heart, and he said that he has nothing to hide. Jill said that she doesn't want negative attention and that he shouldn't be friends with her haters. They hugged, and decided to let it go, and Jill said that it says a lot about her character that she's willing to open up to them again. Ugh, shut up, Jill.
Hey, there's Cindy, making a cameo for the last 10 minutes of the episode. No way she'll be back next season. She'll be too busy with her mayoral duties. In Boringville, remember?

Meanwhile, Sonja's performance got underway, and there was a burlesque dancer up there first, and she did a very good job...right down to the pasties. Then it was Sonja's turn to get up there. She did her little routine about jealous bitches, and Jill wondered if she was talking about them, as did Cindy. When she was done, everyone chanted her name, and it was overall a success. Did you expect anything else from Sonja?

Next week, we get to deal with LuAnn's video, which Alex has already said she wouldn't be a part of. This oughta be good.
