Ralph started off Survivor: Redemption Island with a plan - get Russell out as quickly as possible. He accomplished that goal in the fourth episode but his Zapatera tribe quickly diminished in numbers soon after. He went into the merge on the wrong side of things and watched his alliance members get picked off one by one. At Redemption Island this week, he lost in a duel to Matt, Mike, and Andrea. Today, we spoke to him in an exclusive interview about his Survivor experiences.

 

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Were you a fan of Survivor previously? What made you want to try out?
A. Ralph: I never watch television. They had auditions close to me and someone said, "You'd make a great Survivor player." I watched my first episode and got addicted to it. It was pretty awesome. I talked more about it with people and had them watch it. They said, "You'll do good on it!" so I tried out.

 

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You were immediately turned off to Russell. Did you even consider teaming up with him?
A. Ralph: No. That little speech when he first got there ... fifteen minutes in, he started that crap again. I wanted to make a big move and I did.

 

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Was the relationship you had with your fellow Zapatera members purely strategic or did you form some genuine friendships?
A. Ralph: I made some friendships. I told them that this is a game, we're all adults, and we can make some friends. It's like school in a way. I didn't necessarily become close to anyone. You had to snuggle with people when it gets cold. That's it.

 

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: I've been trying to figure this out for weeks. Why doesn't anybody on Ometepe ask about a hidden idol or look for one?
A. Ralph: I don't know! I can't figure it out! Boston Rob was slick with that thing.

 

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Did you ever have a chance of cracking the Ometepe alliance?
A. Ralph: Nah, I tried. I told Ashley that if she made it to the top, I'd vote for her. I heard Boston Rob say this week that he couldn't let her get to the top. The rest of ‘em wouldn't talk.

 

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How was life at Redemption Island different than life at your camp?
A. Ralph: I hate sand. It's in your clothes, in your food, everywhere. It was all gravel at Redemption Island and that was better.

 

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: As a jury member, what qualities do you value in a player when you vote for them to win the million?
A. Ralph: Whoever deserves it! How they played the game and tried to survive out there, outwit, and outplay.

 

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Would you play Survivor again?
A. Ralph: I'd love to!
