Survivor: Redemption Island

by Gina Scarpa

Last night on Survivor, Julie arrived at Redemption Island where a seemingly calm Mike and a very broken Matt awaited. He still hasn't gotten over the fact that he's been blindsided twice. He cries and asks God why he's still here... but always pulls it together for challenges. Hmm...

Okay, IS Phillip smarter than we think he is or not?! I have no idea how he managed to do this but he found his shorts. Julie swore up and down that he'd never find them but I was both impressed and relieved. No more pink undies. Hooray!

Back to Redemption Island for a game of Survivor shuffleboard. The first two players to get three pucks around a few obstacles and into their end zone wins. Prior to the challenge, Matt says that he's ready to go home... well, until he comes in first. Big ol' million dollar smile. Mike always completes the task and is in. Wish I could say I was sad to see Julie go.

At camp, Andrea makes the mistakes of saying that she feels bad for Matt. That's all Rob and Ashley needed to hear in order to make her their number one target within their alliance. Given their numbers, they can afford to cut one of their own loose before taking out the remaining Zapatera members.

The immunity challenge also comes with a prize for the winner - a giant chocolate cake and ice cold milk. In the challenge, players face off (one on one) in a log roll and try to get the other to fall. Surprisingly, Ralph makes it to the finals and faces off against Grant. I have no idea how Grant managed to win, only because he played barefoot and the log was soaking wet. That guy is a beast.

Grant gets to choose two people to share the cake with him and goes with Rob and Andrea. Why Andrea, you ask? Well, Grant, being the underrated strategic player that he is, decides that it's in his best interest to make Andrea make feel comfortable so she'll never see it coming if they have to vote her out. Grant turned down Ralph, who randomly threatened to lick his neck if he were chosen... but, he states strongly, he's not gay. That's fine. You're just a creeper.

Coming up at tribal, there will be a twist that will be revealed and in preparation for it, Rob examines every possible scenario. Ralph is the target but if a second person needs to go, it could be Steve or Andrea. Then, Steve makes the mistake of approaching Ashley and Natalie to blindside Rob. Ashley runs right back to Rob in the woods to tell him and now, the plan is to finish off Zapatera.

At tribal, Ralph and Steve admit that they're the obvious targets. Just like that, Ralph is voted out of the game. Probst then reveals the twist - the remaining players will immediately compete in an immunity challenge and vote another player off to Redemption Island. In the challenge, Probst shows the players a series of symbols and the players have to repeat those symbols back to him using a stack of cards. The winner is Boston Rob and Steve is sent packing.

Allow me to put on my best Chandler Bing voice. Ahem. Could there BE more people at Redemption Island?!
